  • Ep11 Down With the Sickness

Are you disillusioned by the media, big business, and our governments disregard for human life, and human connection? Are you disheartened by our societies obsession with consumerism and our wasteful mindset? Do you feel like you must have the latest gadget and be up to speed on the latest headline or you will be left behind?

Get ready for a raw, honest, and slightly uncomfortable conversation of self-reflection as it relates to consumerism (in every way), and how we as a society are responsible for keeping the machine (the media in bed with big business in bed with the government) going. (Thank God for the 1st amendment!)

Ginny and Amanda have a candid convo about our addiction to dopamine and our constant demand for it!

    They also tap into:

    • Finding the power for change through self-respect and honoring yourself regardless of what anyone says about how you live; being willing to stand alone
    • The Pocketbook Revolution: Amanda's idea that the only way things are going to change is if we stop spending money on things we don't need (or made unsustainably or in China)
    • Building character (especially in your children) by sacrificing immediate gratification and practicing discipline
    • Deconditioning learned behaviors
    • Alternative sources of dopamine aside from social media, shopping, food
    • Ginny's risk leaving corporate America and starting the Flippin' Phoenix Furniture Rehab; how living with less is improving her life
    • Story of Amanda losing her sh*t at the Douglas County Fair because of how expensive it is to live!

This episode is a touch longer than most because there is just so much to unpack. Buckle up...we are gettin' real!

Warning: A few extra b-list curse words are dropped in this episode because of how passionate G&A are about this.

  • Ep10 Shine Baby, Shine!

Do you feel guilty for having a good life, for having success? Has someone either directly or indirectly tried to bring you down while you were in the process of evolving emotionally, mentally, or financially? Do you feel the need to keep yourself small in order to make someone else feel better about themselves? How do you respond when someone tries to bait you and rope you into their chaos?

Join Ginny and Amanda in an insightful and funny conversation about letting yourself shine no matter your situation. There will be singing!

    This episode explores:

    • The different levels of functioning in society and the "ankle grabbers" who try to pull you down while you are evolving emotionally.
    • How to consistently not take the bait and stick to your "dance moves."
    • You must be willing to risk losing people who are uncomfortable with your growth and your shine.
    • How to meet someone who is suffering with compassion and empathy while maintaining your shine.
    • Allowing people to have their story but not staying stuck in it with them; releasing the need to change or fix somebody (codependency).

Update: The man Amanda and Jim met in the emergency room who was detoxing called Jim a few days later. He has not committed to a recovery program, but calling is a huge step in the right direction.

  • Ep9 Great (Or Not So Great) Expectations

What kind of expectations do you have of your friends, your family, of yourself? Should you have any expectations at all? And if so, what should they look like? Can having high expectations for yourself be a pathway to manifestation? Is the idea of having no expectations an easy way out?

Ginny & Amanda talk all things expectations in this candid, thought-provoking, and honest episode that is a great follow-up to episode 8 about boundaries. Some questions and ideas they explore are:

    • The pros and cons of having no expectations, realistic expectations, and outrageous expectations (of yourself and others)
    • Expectation-setting as a way to express your self-worth and your need for respect in a relationship
    • Learning to cope with disappointment if someone doesn't meet your expectation instead of trying to emotionally self-protect by not having any expectations at all.
    • Feeling let down does not indicate your value or determine your self-worth
    • Expecting someone to fill a need when that need should be filled by someone else, or yourself
    • Removing roles (and accompanying expectations) in your relationships and considering that maybe you are meant to fill a need for someone who you believe should be filling that need for you
    • Expectations as a tool to elevate yourself and others

  • Ep8 Emotional Boundaries

How do you show up in difficult relationships? Do you? Or do you run from troubling relationships in the name of self-care or mental health? Can staying in challenging relationships through emotional boundary setting be the pathway to enlightenment?

Ginny and Amanda discuss how difficult relationships provide an opportunity to increase your self-esteem by showing up in love and compassion. Amanda calls these Esteemable Boundaries—internal emotional boundaries that serve your personal development.

    They also explore:

    • Boundary setting as a form of empowerment vs. a form of emotional self-protection
    • How role playing an interaction with a difficult person helps to create an emotional escape route when you sense the situation is heading south
    • The power you have in creating better relationships in your life
    • Ginny's personal story of a long-term, close relationship that has changed drastically and suddenly and how she is handling it
    • Amanda's personal story of being ghosted by a person she was extremely close with

  • Ep7 Let Life Be Good

Do you have a hard time embracing and settling in when you reach a goal? Are you constantly in striving mode? Do you always need or want more instead of appreciating who you are and what you have, right now?

Starting with some astrology talk (since it's Gemini season and we MUST appreciate Gemini season!), Amanda then launches into fear of failure and success around the book she recently published, Trust Yourself to Be All In (link below).

    Ginny and Amanda also explore:

    • How personal value is not equal to how hard we strive
    • Amanda's original concept: Fear of Missing Out on Growth
    • How underneath the want for the job, house, car, etc., is really a feeling you are searching for
    • The book, The Power of Positive Thinking, by Norman Vincent Peale, and how "new age" spiritual concepts are old and that the collective is finally ready for these concepts
    • How feeling grateful for achieving something you are trying to manifest is a powerful tool for bringing goals into reality
    • How hormones play a huge role in our ability to let life be good. Sometimes we cannot think ourselves into feeling good.

    And much more!

Ginny and Amanda were both on fire when they stepped into the meditation cave to record—You're in for lots of laughs! 🔥

  • Ep6 See You on the Other Side

Did pivotal moments of grief and loss set you on a hunt for deeper searching and understanding of the unknown, of spirit? Or did they leave you angry, ready to abandon the idea of spirituality and God altogether?

Grief can either bring you closer to spirit/God or push you away from it. Through personal stories of loss and the narratives Ginny and Amanda create to help them cope, as well as a powerful story of a friends experience with divorce and cancer, they dive into the ramifications of grief in its many forms.

    • Divorce
    • Loss of a job
    • Loss of friendships
    • Receiving a grim medical diagnosis
    • Change that you may want, but still brings loss of security

Tools like forgiveness, compassion, willingness to embrace pain, as well as skills for connecting with loved ones who have passed, are given to help you heal the universal pain of loss—a feeling everyone will experience no matter who you are.

  • Ep5 Let's Be Honest

Who are you? How honest are you about your character, the inner workings of your heart and mind? Does the story you tell yourself about who you are match your thoughts, actions, and motives?

Ginny and Amanda dive into these questions and more by dissecting what emotional integrity means, and the discipline it takes to continue living true to principles that are important to you.

    They also investigate:

    • How telling yourself that you don't care what anyone thinks of you can limit your personal growth
    • The truth that even though most of what people say and how they act is a projection of their own insecurities, there may be a kernel of truth to what they say
    • How to use tools such as meditation and journaling to get uncomfortably honest and to stay in the discomfort for as long as possible until you reach self-compassion
    • Self-compassion is THE driving principle to do this work and how to remove self-judgment in order to find self-compassion
    • How emotional abandonment in childhood creates "survival traits" and how to integrate these traits in a way that serves you and the world around you better

Ginny and Amanda divulge personal stories about getting honest about who they really are, their history of emotional abandonment and how that drove much of their behavior (and still does at times), as well as how their perception of situations is not always as it seems.

Purpose. Do you have one? Are you living a life filled with meaning, or are you floundering about pushing through the humdrum of every day life?

Ginny and Amanda explain what stepping into their purpose feels like, what inspires it, and how you can inspire another to step into their purpose by living in your own.

    They also dive into:

    • Reincarnation and how it was removed from the Christian bible
    • Lessons learned in past lives define our personalized soul contract/lessons in this life, which leads to purpose
    • Identifying True Self/authenticity vs. purpose
    • Purpose as energy, frequency, a feeling rather than a title
    • Accepting your puzzle piece in the mosaic of life and how that acceptance helps others to accept their own

  • Ep3 The Time Is Now

Self-love. A modern-day buzz word, one that feels fleeting. What exactly is self-love and how do we achieve it? And when we achieve it, how do we maintain it? Self-love needs to be rooted so deep inside that it is undisturbed by any outside influence, situation, or event. It needs to be rooted so deeply in order to love others. And the time has come that we must love others.

    Ginny and Amanda explore:

    • What self-love feels like and how they achieved it
    • When they lose it, how they return to it
    • How seeing themselves as the highest form of love is the only way they can see others in that light
    • Most importantly, why it's critical we all reach this state of self-love right now
