In Hosea 11:12-12:14, God compares the nation of Israel and the nation of Judah, while delivering messages (through the prophet) to both.

How did Jesus “mature” while being man and God? And, what lessons can we learn on how we should grow up?

In some of the most tender imagery Hosea has given us so far, God tells Israel that He holds them in His arms like children. We see the heart of God on display as He asks, "how can I give thee up?" We see the promises of God for the future of Israel. As you listen to this message, ponder the absolute and unwavering love that God has for you and be encouraged!

The greatest gift given to mankind shall be called Jesus-for He shall save His people from their sins.

Hosea chapter ten details what Israel is, and what Israel shall be. They had plowed two furrows next to each other: one to God and one to their idols. But God will not share His glory and Israel will reap what they had sown. The same thing is true in our own lives as well. God will not share His glory. The call to Israel was simple: now is the time to seek the Lord and sow righteousness. When this is done, the harvest will be mercy. This is the call for us today. Seek the Lord. Sow righteousness. Reap mercy.

Even when pain locks the door and doubt clouds our faith, Jesus enters with scars to prove His love, calling each of us to a personal decision, not just to believe in Him, but to surrender and declare, “My Lord and my God.”

God chose Israel to be a special people. This unmerited favor was met with shocking betrayal as the people wandered from God to serve idols. In this lesson we see the devastating reward for wandering. The key lesson for us? We cannot continually sow to sin in our lives without harvesting the consequences.
