“They found the stone rolled away...They didn’t know what to make of this.” Luke 24: 2,4 “They” were Mary Magdalene and other women, and they were confused about the tomb being empty. That was 2000 years ago, and many people are just as confused today in this information rich, but knowledge hungry world. On this weeks show, Kurt and Chad welcome Pastor and seminary professor Brian Payne to talk about the power of the resurrection and how it is still is impacting lives to this day. Every main character and event in the Bible is associated with or linked to a tree. Yet over the years, trees have been eradicated from the scriptures by theologians. Why? Matthew gives us a unique and powerful perspective on something that God loves very dearly. He says,“God loves trees, He gives them a ring on every one of their birthdays.

Who is sharpening you, and more importantly who are you sharpening? On this weeks show, Kurt and Chad talk with two men (Biddy Bates and Murphy Belding) who have a fortunate and mutually beneficial relationship in a mentoring friendship. Sabbatical. The concept of the sabbatical is based on the Biblical practice of shmita, which is related to agriculture. According to Leviticus 25, Jews in the land of Israel must take a year-long break from working the fields every seven years. A "sabbatical" has come to mean an extended absence in the career of an individual to fulfill some goal, i.e. writing a book or traveling extensively for research. Does that sound appealing or do you feel restless? On this weeks show, Professor Dr. Brad Shuck talks about his sabbatical experience and the challenges he did not expect, as well as the surprising benefits of an extended time off from work to “sharpen the saw.“ How can we, as men, learn the benefits of solitude, rest, and margin in our life.

“...I regret that I have made them.” - Genesis 6:6, God talking about mankind. You only have to go six chapters into the story of mankind before God regrets making them. Ouch. He decided to make a change. Enter Noah into the narrative. Noah was a good man among a lot of bad men. So much so, that God spared his family, and mankind, by putting them on the ark. He stayed dry when the floods came. But did God want more from Noah, and from all men? On this week’s show, Dr. Eric Schansberg joins Kurt and Chad to discuss the story of man’s fall, along with continued chaos and violence in “the man’s world” of Genesis. As we look at some of the men in Genesis, we see that God intended man to a blessing to all, and not just to stay dry.

How do you lead for the long haul? It sometimes seems to take a lifetime to learn, but how can you finish as strong as you started? On this week’s show, author Dan Webster looks to a 16 year old king from thousands of years ago who was thrust into leadership. What can we learn from both his positives and negatives that apply to our leadership challenges today? Dan talks about the 3 C’s of a leader.
