[Solo Sesh] The Sneaky Way You're Self-Sabotaging

Listen Later

Are you waiting until you have the perfect conditions to take action toward your goals? Are you self-sabotaging from the outset to avoid putting effort into what you assume will end in failure?

If so, you are encountering resistance which, as Chrystal explains, comes from a subconscious need to maintain the status quo in order to feel safe. At its source, resistance stems from deep-seated messages of self-doubt. Rather than waiting for perfect conditions that will never come, or even sucking it up and trudging on through, meet yourself where you are. Even if you have to do things at half speed, doing the work and forming the habit are what are most important.

Quotes

• “It's more important to establish the habit and to ingrain the new behavior than it is to go full throttle, go all out.” (6:17-6:28 | Chrystal)

• “There's always something that causes us to be chaotic or to be busy. Life is going to life.” (7:14-7:22 | Chrystal)

• “Our body and our minds want to achieve homeostasis, which means staying the same. And our bodies are amazing at it. This is actually why we're really really efficient at keeping ourselves alive. Our bodies are super-efficient at this, keeping us in homeostasis because it fears the unknown.” (9:23-9:45 | Chrystal)

• “Understand that your beliefs are held in your body. They're not always in the forefront of your conscious mind’” (15:08-15:15 | Chrystal)

• “If you have a goal or a dream, or even just something you'd like to do, and you keep putting it off, you're likely coming across resistance. And you'll likely have some deep, ingrained beliefs that's keeping you from doing it.” (16:38-16:52 | Chrystal)
