In the state of California there is an award, called the Hiram award, that can be given out to one Mason each year in each lodge. This award is not "won", the recipient is determined by the lodge and is usually that unsung hero. It is for the Mason who comes down on odd days and does the gardening, or stays late to do the dishes, or is the one who knows how to repair everything and anything in the lodge.

This podcast shares this year's Hiram Award ceremony so those of you who have never been to one and are interested can listen in and get an idea of what goes on.

The Angels RBI League has provided over 20,000 kids, who would not otherwise have the chance, with the opportunity to play baseball and softball. As a collaboration between Angels Baseball, Major League Baseball, and other youth development agencies throughout Southern California, the league specifically targets underserved youth and provides them with a comprehensive athletic experience at no cost. 

In addition to learning the fundamentals of our national pastime, each participant learns valuable character development and life skills enabling them to gain a sense of belonging, confidence, and empowerment in their own lives.

In 2018 Solomon's Staircase had the honor of being awarded best social media presence for a Masonic Lodge in the state of California for the third time in four years. The Grand Lodge also honored us with the best Trestle Board award as well.
