Beloved,
Happy Solstice - the RETURN TO LIGHT.
This day is a moment every year when the world is invited to pause and to stop.
It’s quiet, almost imperceptible, but if you’re paying attention—you can feel it.
It happens on the Winter Solstice.
The longest night. The shortest day. The edge between what has been and what is yet to come.
We call it a turning point, but really—it’s a still point.
As the earth tilts away from the sun, everything pauses.
The trees sleep. The fields rest.
Even our bodies seem to crave slower rhythms, as if the ancient part of us remembers: this is the time to exhale.
“The day/night of Winter Solstice is a liminal time… the moment between nights getting longer and nights getting shorter.”
In the rush of daily life, we rarely let ourselves pause in that in-between.
We push through dark mornings.
We complain about early sunsets. We fill every silence with something to do.
The White Stag, a symbol of the Winter Solstice, represents Spirit or messengers in many cultures.
Seen as purified totems glowing with inner light, they offer teachings and wisdom from beyond that can transform us in unexpected ways.
White Stags are also considered doorways to other realms, both a blessing and a force to be respected—following them may demand everything from you with no guarantee of return.
The White Stag’s link to the Winter Solstice comes from the season’s clarity: with foliage gone, stark contrasts reveal what was hidden.
In winter, stags are at their most powerful—gathering herds, mating for the next generation, protecting them, and embodying the forest’s spirit.
But just as the Solstice marks the pause before light’s return, we too need the pause before renewal.
So how do we embrace this?
Here’s what rises:
* Breathe in the dark. Literally. Stand outside at noon on Solstice. Let the gloom press against your skin. Inhale stillness. Exhale striving.
* Sharpen your tools. Not just hammers or skis—but your inner ones. What thoughts, habits, or regrets clutter your spirit? Write them down, then burn or bury the paper.
* Move like the whitestag. Stags do not rush in the presence of fear..
* It listens. Sit quietly for 10 minutes. Notice what shifts when you stop doing.
Reflect with me:
* What burden are you ready to release, like the stag shedding antlers?
* Where might the White Stag appear in your ordinary? A sunset? A child’s laugh?
* How can you honor the sacred pause, instead of rushing toward spring?
Winter Solstice doesn’t promise instant rebirth.
It gifts us a threshold—a chance to stand bare and brave, trusting that light will return.
As the example of the seasonal symbol of the White Stag - they show us, strength and grace are dance partners. Shed the unnecessary.
Rest deeply. Let your inner light rekindle.
The longest night is not an end. It’s the breath before the dawn.
Love and deep rest,
Kassandra
