Some Nerds Have a Podcast

Well, It's Halloween time, and don't let the calendar tell you otherwise. Before we hit the scares,we take a look at Alyse and Nick's soothing activities. From Alyse, it's reading the Selection Series, a ten year old teen dystopia novel. From Nick, it's playing Nioh, a soulslike game about an Elizabethan pirate exiled in Japan. From Alex, we hear about her experiences at Neko Con 22, before diving head first into Trollhunter, Return of the Living Dead, and Under the Shadow. Oh, and we also all weigh in on the much anticipated Hazbin Hotel. Get Hype! or don't.

Some nerds have a podcast is exactly that, a podcast by some nerds, Nick, Alyse, and Alex. In it, we discuss nerdy media such as video games, movies, TV shows, and perhaps even a webcomic or two. Super original I know. But, if you're into that kind of thing, maybe give it a listen.

Halloween is almost upon us, which means its horror movie time. Then again, when isn't it. After some light Fallout 76 updates, we get to share some thoughts on classics like Army of Darkness, Prince of Darkness, and Hammer Horror's Brides of Dracula. We also get hype for Infinity Train, What we Do in the Shadows, and the upcoming film, The Lighthouse. Hope you enjoy!

A short one this week, our schedules have been somewhat busy as of late, but we take time to play Control, watch The Terror, and honk in the new game of the year, Untitled Goose Game. Join us an honk as loud as you can into the street. Honk until your neighbors join in. The Honk is eternal.

So, it's Halloween eve, and Alyse just finished Stranger Things 3. Listen as we keep trying to talk about it and get distracted by all sorts of things. Among them is in depth talk about religious practices. We also discuss the play/movie Glengarry Glen Ross, the Dune Fandom, and Izetta: The Last Witch. So happy 50th! Nothing special for it, but enjoy our now worse audio.

Hey check it out! This week's episode is riddled with technical difficulties, but we push through them to talk about The Dark Crystal! It's back and may have things to say about the state of things. We're not sure, we only say the first episode, but we have thoughts. Also Nick wants to take us back to the good old days with Final Fantasy VII, a game with absolutely no political message. At all. And finally, we've all caught up on the first season of Deep Space 9, so lets explore this darker, grittier Star Trek, with Dabo and Holosuites!

The world is dying, and we distract ourselves with media! Nick had finally succeeded in showing Alyse Evangelion, and we discuss as much as we can without going into full spoilers. We also touch on GLOW and Mindhunter. But really, this is the big Eva episode we've been hinting at. yay.

We join you fresh off the back of another Scares that Care horror convention. Nick and Alex discuss the many films that were watched, books that got bought, and board games that got played at the con. We talk about the train based Korean film genre in Train to Busan, before getting lost in nostalgia for the Rocko's Modern Life reboot. Then Alyse gives one of her patented rants on Geordi Laforge's sex life.

It's our triumphant return! Nick and Alyse are back from they European vacation, leaving Alex in charge of the cats and with free license to watch anime in their apartment. She took them up on it, and here we are. But we also get to hear about the horror movies that Nick watched and the Romantic comedy deconstruction that Alyse watched on the plane. Also, stick around for everyone's take on the Dark Crystal.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn't had enough criticism, has it? Tonight, we discuss Spiderman; Homecoming, Tony Stark's long history of being just the worst, and why Edgar Wright should have directed Antman. Before all that, we take you on a journy to Tang Dynasty China for Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, a film that features a Dark Souls arena as a set-piece, and a martial arts fight with CGI Deer.

Once again, Nick has watched some movies, and they are among the weirder ones; Society, Life Force, and Battle Beyond the Stars. Alex explains the phenomenon that is After Last Season, 10 years after its release. And Alyse opines on the snotty American's in House Hunters International.
