Something Better Instead

Listen Later

Something better instead

A brisk northern breeze shuffles the fresh snow on the ground

Crunches under my feet, all my life I’ve kind of loved that sound

It’s early in a new year, as far as I can see everything is white

Shoveling the snow with my bad times and my path is clear tonight

You see they were last year, and this year holds so much promise ahead

We can bitch about the blues, or we can do something better instead

The world suffered from the pandemic, and it seems it has put us all in a tizzy

Try if you wish to digest the never-ending news about it, but you’ll likely get dizzy

Blame and fear spread faster than the virus itself, trumpeted by the misinformed

From the local barstools to our Congress, truth depends on whether you’ve conformed

Question anyone who keeps you from looking at the facts or you will surely be misled

Careful where you throw your weight, education will lead you to something better instead

Something better for everyone instead of the hurtful way that things have been going

Change is accomplished best through education, making sure everyone is knowing

What’s important not only for some of us today, but for all and for many generations to follow

Something better instead of me crying about the things in my life that went afoul

Staring into the mirror, proclaiming there’s no way in hell I’m throwing in the towel

What’s important is that what I believe in, and love is sound and rings true rather than be hollow

Yeah, something better instead
