This podcast includes information about the The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). CHIP provides health coverage to eligible children, through both Medicaid and separate CHIP programs. CHIP is administered by states, according to federal requirements. The program is funded jointly by states and the federal government. Nationwide, CHIP covers currently now about 9 million kids from lower- to middle-income families who are otherwise ineligible for Medicaid.
Congress allowed CHIP funding to expire Sept. 30 of 2017. The House passed a bill in early November 2017 that funds the program for five years, but the Senate has not voted on CHIP leaving millions of families panicked during the holiday season.
We also talk about local elections in your area. We encourage EVERYONE to get involved in politics and at a minimum find out about who represents you on a city, county and state level and vote for your interest.
