Since I was ask many times how do I create my detailed oil paintings without photo references, I will show you very briefly my process. Since it is not a one-shot approach, I can decide in which direction I want to proceed during every step.

I used to think I was doing it "wrong." 🫣

For a long time, I tried to force myself into the workflows of professional artists I admired. I thought if I followed their steps exactly, I’d see their results. But I just felt disconnected from my own work.

I returned to my old "messy" style that actually fits the way my brain works.

The most important thing is to find the rhythm that works for YOU, in my pov.

I tried to carefully plan my current large painting and execute it all alla prima, but I eventually realized that strictly following a set plan just isn't how it feels good. I went back to a small practice canvas to follow my old intuition how to paint and just let the paint do its own thing. Have fun watching.

It was really interesting for me to see how the lion's paw turned out. Originally, I had planned for it to have a lot of fur and just be standing on a glowing rock. But see for yourselves how it turned out 😄
