Sleeping Dragons: The Awakening
This episode is a brief introduction to a new series in the Son of Man: Urantia Project called Sleeping Dragons. The first phase of the project was rewriting part 4 of the Urantia Book, and then publishing and recording in audio and video the result, the Son of Man: Urantia. The goal was to make the life and teachings of Jesus presented in the Urantia Bookreadable for more people, and to provide them text, video, and audio clips for free to spread the message if they want to. That is all in place on the various Son of Man: Urantia channels in both English and Spanish.
This next phase of the project is to now to both break out the lessons and knowledge contained in the life and teaching of Jesus, and to offer tools, insights, and processes that a person can use to start directing their own personal development. As will be mentioned again, this project is aimed at creating a group of people who get their message to the world by walking their talk, not talking their story. In other words, Jesus’ gospel was his demonstrated life revealing the fruits of the spirit, not his sermons or his teachings. Following suit, our duty is to embrace his teachings, integrate them into our lives, and in the process of becoming better people we spread his gospel by showing the fruits of the spirit in our lives and drawing others to God by them also wanting those same fruits of the spirit in their lives.
The goal is nothing short of helping humanity bring about peace on Earth and goodwill among us through our recognition of the fatherhood of God and the subsequent siblinghood of humanity, and each of us in our daily lives meeting our commandment to serve humanity for the sake of God our mutual father, i.e., helping all of us get to the point to where we base all of our daily decisions on the highest level of the Golden Rule.
As far as target audience: I have decided to direct my comments in these episodes to American men in their mid-sixties and older, and I mean like naturally born swinging dicks in case there is any confusion, and this is because you guys are the only group of people I really know at this point. Back in the day when I ran with a group of men after my time in the Coast Guard, they were always right about twelve or thirteen years older than me. So even identifying with men my brother’s ages who are five and six years younger than me is difficult, much less with those my son’s age twenty-seven years younger than me. I have also spent a lot of my life outside of CONUS, the continental United States…Europe as a kid, Saipan and Alaska after high-school, and the last eleven years here in Ecuador. So as far as relating to the youngbloods up there that are just now or in the last decade coming of age, hell, we might as well not only be from different planets, but it is also starting to appear that we may even be biologically different in some ways. What this all comes down to is that I am going to speak to the people I know best in our language and how we normally talk when hanging out, and hopefully make some kind of connection with you guys, and the rest of you—women and the younger men—can all listen in and participate as you like and hopefully in the process we will all learn something without stepping on too many toes.
Since the text for this project is the second edition of Son of Man: Urantia, a few comments on my position regarding the rest of the Urantia Book are in order.
At this point I only use two quotes when it comes to referring to the Urantia Book. The first is “Of all human knowledge, that which is of greatest value is to know the religious life of Jesus and how he lived it” (Son of Man: Urantia, pg. 602; Urantia Book, 196:1.3/2090.4). I have come to agree with that statement and take it to heart. Furthermore, I believe it means that the knowledge presented in Part 4 of the Urantia Book takes precedence over the information offered in Parts 1-3, if by chance they are not in exact alignment. Finally, the knowledge presented in Part 4 of the Urantia Book is fluid and progressive, i.e., while the words do not change their meaning does as those working with the knowledge grow into progressively higher levels of spiritual development.
A side note to clarify terms: I am using the word knowledge to represent a person’s inner matrix of thoughts, beliefs, and mental processes related to a particular subject and the word information to represent the so-called individual facts and other elements making up that mental space.
So back to the knowledge in the part 4, the life and teachings of Jesus, being fluid and progressive: think of it like this, instead of peeling an onion we are growing an onion. A never-ending process whereby every time a person reads the story of the life and teachings of Jesus another layer of understanding appears. In other words, the knowledge contained in Part 4 of the Urantia Book—knowledge based on the demonstrated life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth—is not static but rather continuous, progressive, and attained through our efforts to engage it in our lives, which results in a person moving closer to oneness with God and the development of the wisdom needed to guide their journey.
This is different than the information, the facts, that are presented in Parts 1-3 of the Urantia Book. That is static information, hence it is only partially true and based on the level of the people for whom it was presented. Truth, as in the ultimate all capital letters TRUTH, is not reached until we achieve perfection and oneness with God: everything up to that point is partial in some way.
Anyone with the intelligence quotient of an ape, which is evidently higher than a significant portion of humanity, can recite scripture or so-called facts and demand that others accept them as true: that is the way of the social religions in the world. But embracing true knowledge and growing with it through the mentoring of our inner presence of God, which is true religion not social religion) transforms each of us into an appealing opportunity for others to freely come to us in search of what we have.
There are other concerns that I have related to parts 1-3 of the Urantia Book that I will express at a later time. But for now I want to make a plea to the community of Urantia Book believers: please take the quote that I mentioned above as an admonition and put aside parts 1-3 and concentrate your study on Part 4, which provides the knowledge we need to combine with our experience and produce our own unique wisdom—wisdom the world desperately needs.
Some readers of the Urantia Book will resist that request because parts 1-3 stroke their egos by providing them with supposedly unknown information that others do not have, whereas engaging the knowledge in the story of Jesus’ life does just the opposite: it immediately deflates a person’s ego and brings them face-to-face in the mirror. Only those people without the presence of God guiding them can read Jesus’ story without being fundamentally changed, whether the person immediately accepts that growth or not. Enough said.
For the people new to the Urantia Book and the Son of Man: Urantia Project, a few comments are in order to hopefully ease your mind with all of this Jesus talk. While this project is based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as revealed in Part 4 of the Urantia Book, neither the Son of Man: Urantia Project nor the Urantia Book has any connection whatsoever to any sect of the various Christian based social religions or new age belief systems rampant in the world. Furthermore, and to state that line of thought a bit more strongly, I believe more needs to be done to publicize and define the differences between the two, especially when it comes to the gospel of Jesus: they are not the same. Christian theology is mostly Paul’s thought, and it is based on the belief in the fact of the resurrection of Jesus; the brotherhood of humanity only consists of those who believe in the risen Christ, and the Golden Rule is usually confined to those people and at the level of treating others as one wants to be treated in return. The gospel of Jesus presented in the Urantia Book on the other hand, is belief in the fatherhood of God and the subsequent siblinghood of humanity, and enacting our highest commandment to treat others as God our mutual father would have us do. Where Christian sects are social religions—in other words they are groups of people believing the same way that have no divine status on high—true religion arises from the personal experience each person has with their indwelling spirit of God inside of them; true religion is personal and unique to the individual and no one or any other entity in the kosmos can ever come between the two. Where Christians go to God when they die and they wait for the kingdom of heaven while they are alive, we were shown through Jesus’ life with us that God is here now in each of our minds and the kingdom of heaven is and has been here since Jesus arrived and revealed to us that fact of the fatherhood of God binding us into the siblinghood of humanity. Finally, where Christians and believers in other faiths all have to point to some holy book as the truth about God and expect others to believe it just because, Jesus taught us that the only way we can validate any truth related to the nature of God is through the quiet voice of God inside of us. Remember, God does not change, we do. In other words, I am not telling you to believe anything about God just because it says so in the Urantia Book: I am instead presenting to you the truth that I have validated in my own heart and it is up to you and the God inside of you to determine if what I say or something that you read is the true nature of God or not. This is where we separate the men from the boys—those who need to be told what to believe and how to live, and those with the courage to decide, based on their relationship with God inside of them, what to believe and how to live. So, if you reading this are considered a “moderate” of your faith or if you have backslidden to where you no longer participate in your religion—not because of a lack of belief in God but a rather a lack of tolerance for your religion—then you have come to the right place. Welcome to the adventure.
Which leads to the whole point of this phase of the Son of Man: Project: we are expected to grow, to progress, to reach for God and perfection with him and keep on doing so until we get there. In other words, once certain realizations come to a person the work begins. The idea of retirement in any true or real sense is b******t. We do not just happen to “grow” in our understanding of God. That is too easy. Every thought, decision, and action we take is part of our growth and determines who we really are. The universe, ultimately, reflects perfect symmetry where everything balances out. But to realize this a person needs to know the true nature of God because that is from where it all starts. For example, while God’s forgiveness is absolute and there before we think to ask for it, we experience God’s forgiveness only to the extent that we forgive others here on Earth—that is symmetry, it has a perfect balance where gaining something for nothing does not: it is not in alignment with the underlying perfection from which arises known creation.
So this new series, Sleeping Dragons, is all about personal development across all aspect of our lives—it is about helping us all grow in our ability to progressively show the fruits of the spirit so we draw others to also want them, while increasing our ability to serve humanity for the sake of God as we were told to do through Jesus’ last and highest commandant—the Golden Rule—to treat all others as God our mutual father would have us do.
Please notice that nowhere am I saying we go out and tell people about our belief in God and service to humanity: spreading the gospel of Jesus is all about showing the fruits of the spirit in our lives, not telling people about them: as we are told, the degree to which people come to us measures our success, while the degree to which we have to go to them to get our message out is a measure of our failure to walk our talk—and that one, I know from experience.
It is important to realize that this is a process not an event; that the more a person can approach it as one who expects their growth to continue on past death from exactly where they left off on Earth, the better they will be served in their efforts. If a person looks at this lifetime as a finite experience, a one-time deal instead of a progressive continuum where so called “death” is nothing more than a shift from one space to another, it will not only limit a person’s growth in this life but in time it will add much to the existential angst framing their life.
Furthermore, if we are on a continuum where we are expected to grow through and past this life, and if we understand that wisdom arises from the combination of knowledge and experience, then we as a society in America better start realizing that we cannot gain experience without enough time on the planet to do so. What I am getting at is that the commonly held idea of aging that has been imposed on us, I believe intentionally, needs to be rethought: it is false. It is another example where our society has been turned exactly 180 degrees off true. As we have heard, make the lie as big as possible and keep repeating it over and over until the people know nothing else. Our society has been designed to produce workers, wear them out when their bodies are young and strong and the person’s wisdom has not yet developed, and then through various means degrade and destroy those bodies making the people sick and irrelevant so they die before their wisdom kicks in and they set out to expose the lies into which they fell. Our healthy productive lifespans are much longer than people have been led to believe, and we can grow in ability, service, strength, and intelligence throughout those lives.
One of the primary purposes of the Son of Man: Urantia Project is to help change our conception of aging by giving people the tools to maintain or regain their health, and by urging those men my age and older to commit to becoming the absolute best you can across all aspects of your lives and retake your places as productive influential members of society. You, and the wisdom many of you have acquired, are needed. Youth has been given the power because they lack the wisdom, obviously, to see that they are buying into a rigged game that will use them and spit them out before they realize what has happened, all because they have been told they have a short limited amount of time to get as much as they can and have as much superficial fun as possible: in other words, the game plan is get it while you can and the person with the most toys wins. This system is not organic: it has been imprinted on our society so others can control us. While age is no guarantee of wisdom, most of our important lessons cannot be learned without the time on Earth needed to do so. You who are now more or less sidelined because of your age and declining health and fitness are sleeping dragons, and it is time to wake up, improve your health, get back in shape, and take your rightful place as elders guiding our nation and leading our young people. I do not about you guys, but when trannies and pedophiles start saying they are coming for the children, our grandchildren if you are lucky, I am not, I will be damned if I am going to sit back and trust today’s young fathers to protect them. Which brings us to my second quote from the Urantia Book:
“And they who do these things will restore the wasted glories; they will raise up the foundations of many generations; they will be called the rebuilders of broken walls, the restorers of safe paths in which to dwell.” (147:8.4/1656.5)
In our country, the United States of America, that can be us: American men in our sixties and older. That is our call to duty. That is a purpose so much greater than ourselves that it not only gives us a reason to live, but to excel. No one else can assume the leadership of our country at the community level—most of the men well younger than us are too caught up in the rat race forced on them to have time to think, much less do anything, and those closer to our age but still in the system are focused on whatever retirement they can earn. We are past that: we have been there, done our time, and are now clear to reset, relearn, and reengage life at levels higher than we have ever before achieved.
So again, while part of what comes out of Sleeping Dragons will be specifically directed toward understanding the gospel of Jesus and his life and teachings, other parts will be related to the tools, skills, and activities needed to age well and best meet our commandment to serve humanity for the sake of God throughout this life. Nutrition, mental attitude, physical fitness, and how we structure our lives are all important for aging with health, and are on the table for discussion.
It is really quite simple: if we assume the status of Son of God and Kingdom Worker, then we also take on the obligation to intentionally direct our own growth toward ultimate perfection with God over our journey ahead, and that is the most important learning to take from this episode: that belief in God will get us in the door to eternal life, but to remain there we are expected to continually progress in our ability to show the fruits of the spirit to others so they themselves also want them.
We have now both a purpose greater than ourselves, and a reason to assume that purpose with passion.
For those wanting to begin, or to help a person decide if they want to start this adventure, the first step would be to read, better yet study, the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth presented in the book, Son of Man: Urantia.
