How does it feel to get everything you've ever wanted? Perfect bliss. This is the life Billy and Wizzie Frank have worked hard for, a life they've both sacrificed for. The perfect marriage and the perfect house with a view, right on the Alabama River, at just the right price. Did they find their dream home by chance or by fate, or was it something more sinister?
Instead of the peaceful life, they find themselves enduring violent hauntings and encounters night after night, when the ghost of a Native American chief swears revenge on them all. They must fight for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, with the help of their neighbor kid, a Native American college professor, and two unexpected heroes: the ghost of an Indian brave and his trusty companion, Tala. But is their help enough? Billy and Wizzie's new beginning could just be their end.

Cannot wait to read the next in series!
Cannot wait to read book 2!!!
A friend of mine recommended this book to me and I was so glad she did. I love stories about ghosts and haunted houses...and this novel delivers a scary tale that is a page turner. Its about a young couple that buy a home in a small town. It is their dream home and they get it for a good price...and there's a reason for that...the house has had many owners...few lasting no more than months...that's because the house is haunted by a very angry Indian chief who wants all "white" men off his land. This story is full of interesting characters that the writer develops at a nice even pace. She does not introduce a character that is not integral to the plot...which I like...the book draws you in immediately...and sets the scene with vivid imagery that puts you right there. There is amazing detail...the setting and surrounding nature are described perfectly....not over done, if you know what I mean...she doesn't take an entire chapter to describe something...its just enough to give you a true sense of place without being heavy handed. I felt the writer really knew how to build suspense throughout the book...the story unfolds at a nice pace and I was wanting to read more and more...I read it in two days! I was riveted by the story and the characters are very real...there is also an element of the past with themes of hauntings...unsettled spirits...friendship...and protection...there were parts of the story that literally gave me the chills and the hair on my arms stood up...it is very well written and has just the right amount of scare/spooky factor...not campy at all...but suspenseful and thoroughly enjoyable. This is the first in a series and I will definitely read the next book...cannot wait to see what happens!
Highly recommend this book!!!
An unusual and unsettling story
I was pleasantly surprised by this paranormal thriller that is partly based on fact. The embellishments are intricately weaved throughout the story and it is difficult to ascertain where the facts stops and the fiction begins. The book is unsettling, creepy and surprisingly poignant. I found it difficult to put the book down at times though I was cringing. The author is a master at building suspense and painting an immersive and intense world in the Deep South.
