In September of 2022, Christ the King Academy launched as the first ever Classical Christian School in Lewis County, WA. This week’s Songs for Saints (SFS) production is a new recording of the school’s official “fight song.”
Such a song was inspired by the music written over 100 years ago by Caradog Roberts, a Welshman and Christian, who wrote a song titled “Rachie” which is sung in Welsh and often used as a rugby “fight song.”
Since I don’t speak Welsh I wrote new lyrics for the song in the summer of 2023 and it was adopted by the school soon after.
The song speaks to the victory of Christ the King over all His enemies and the courage that saints are given when we trust His sovereign reign.
It draws from various biblical texts such as Revelation 11:5, Psalm 2, Psalm 72, and Mark 3:27.
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation 11:15
Christ the King is Captain Lord of every realm!Earthly kingdoms princes rulers will bow downHe has bound the strong man plundering His houseKingdoms of this world become His kingdom now
He will lead and we will followInto joy or into sorrowCome what mayWe'll trust the reign of Christ the King!
He regards the lowly precious in His sightBaptized saints now filled with courage for the fightWe are marching onward hell cannot withstandGates will fall and we will call all men to Him
He will lead and we will followInto joy or into sorrowCome what mayWe'll trust the reign of Christ the King
The saints at Christ Covenant Church have been singing this one for a while now and it’s become a favorite. I encourage you to download the sheet music and add it to your own family worship or give it to your pastor as a suggestion to add to your church’s Lord’s Day worship.

Note: the amazing painting that is used as the cover art for this single is called “Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast” and was painted in 1870 by Albert Bierstadt.
Our first selection for the Songs for Saints (SFS) production is a metrical setting of the 29th Psalm.
This passage vividly portrays God in all His glory and splendor.
John Calvin said of David writing this passage“…(He) intended to humble the princes of this world, who, being intoxicated with pride, lift up their horns against God. This, accordingly, is the reason why he introduces God, with a terrific voice, subduing by thunders, hail-storms, tempests, and lightnings, these stubborn and stiff-necked giants, who, if they are not struck with fear, refuse to stand in awe of any power in heaven….David, therefore, commands them to give strength unto Jehovah, because, deluded by their treacherous imaginations, they think that the power which they possess is supplied to them from some other quarter than from heaven. In short, he exhorts them to lay aside their haughtiness, and their false opinion about their own strength, and to glorify God as he deserves.”
May this Psalm cause each of us as well as our nations, kings and rulers (Psalm 2) to humble ourselves before God of whom Jonah spoke “I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.” (Jonah 1:9)
