So here we are in June of 2021. The world slowly emerging from its Pandemic stupor. You and Connie coming over soon to celebrate in person the completion of the virtual journey we took around our lives in thirty letters.

Dear Partner,

There is a moment in many if not most stories where the protagonist (or protagonists) survive a near death experience, emerging transformed in some existential way.

Dear Partner,

Paraphrasing Charles Dickens the Spring of 2017 it was the end of times, it was the beginning of times.

Dear Partner,

That’s us singing “Here’s To Fifty Years, My Friend.” It’s from a concert in September of 2015 half a century after we met and sang our first song together.

Dear Partner,

Being in The Brothers Four has brought and continues to bring so much to our lives.

Dear Partner,

Over the years I’ve grown comfortable with the idea that we spend a lot of time chipping away in the quarry of life often to what seems like little effect.

For years Gary Drager and I have talked about and marveled at what he named the “3rd Thing.” It is that thing that happens...

Dear Partner,

The winter before you became part of The Brothers Four was a challenging and uncertain time for me.

Dear Partner,

In 2004 you took John Paine’s place in the group and you and I began standing next to each other singing that song and so many others on stages all over the world.

Dear Partner,

It’s been quite an experience to take this time, to write these letters to you, to attempt to put into words where we’ve come from, how we got here, where we are now, where we might be headed.
