Pye Corner Audio “Haze Loops” (23:30) – From the recent album Let’s Emerge! – on the Sonic Cathedral label. The album features Ride guitarist Andy Bell playing on five of its ten tracks, including this one.

Kikagaku Moyo “Effe” (27:40) – From their album Kumoyo Island, supposedly their last album forever as they are going on an indefinite hiatus. I had the good fortune of seeing them in Detroit back in May and it was quite a blowout show – they will definitely be missed.

The Twelve Hour Foundation “Stepping Stones” (31:00) – A glorious technicolor dream to close out summer. This track is from a 4-way split EP on the Russian Library label entitled L SERIES #1, which also includes Pulselovers, Stellarays, and Ondness.

Aural Design “Exit Utopia” (35:00) – A track from the Russian Library L SERIES #2 split EP, with Listening Center, Demónio António and The Heartwood Institute.

A Journey of Giraffes “Muddy Opal” (16:35) – from the Spool album released on the Somewherecold label.

SineRider “Ashore” (18:30) – drifting ambient courtesy of Sound In Silence.

White Flowers “Different Time, Different Place” (22:20) – quite possibly my favorite new band, delivering a sound steeped in dream pop reminiscent of Cocteau Twins. From their amazing album Day By Day.

Hattie Cooke “Cars” (26:35) – from the album Bliss Land released by the always amazing Castles In Space label.

Colleen “Hidden in the Current” (30:00) – full of bubbly organic synth sounds, off of one of my favorite albums of 2021, The Tunnel and the Clearing on Thrill Jockey Records.

The Landscape Pavilion “Mysterious Paper Airplane” (18:05) – from the album Introducing Music You Can Watch.

Ben Holton (Birds In The Brickwork) “June (Blurred Fields)” (22:08) – A new music project from the founding member of epic45. He recently released an album of 12 tracks, one for each month, along with a corresponding print calendar. Stay tuned for more from Ben in 2022.

The Green Kingdom “Cloud Forest” (24:48) – from the album Imaginary Habitats. Michael Cottone was very busy in 2021 putting out no less that 5 releases, each one building on the previous one. It was hard to find just one track to play, there were so many to choose from!

Astral Brain “Midsummer’s Lullaby” (27:35) – a duo out of Sweden that provided some much needed sonic relief to the end of year blues with their album The Bewildered Mind.

Robin Guthrie “Starfish Prime” (32:30) – Robin released two EPs and a full-length album towards the end of the year, and this is from the Riviera EP.

Fly Pan Am “Body Pressure” (26:10) – classic Montréal post-rockers who’ve returned from an extended hiatus. From their latest album Frontera.

The Howard Hughes Suite “Undertow” (20:26) – a cosmic country sound taken from the recently released album Smoke From a Future Fire on the Slow Music Movement label.

Billow Observatory “Red Morning” (23:40) – an ambient collaboration between Jonas Munk of Causa Sui and Jason Kolb of Auburn Lull.
