After two whirlwind days of speculation, Twitter refreshing, and little sleep for the Sons of Saturday, Marcus Freeman has been named Head Football Coach of the Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish. Word broke late Wednesday evening, following news earlier in the evening that Friend of the Program Tommy Rees was staying on board as offensive coordinator. From there, more good news came in. The entire defensive staff (Mike Elston, Mike Mickens, and Chris O’Leary) is staying in South Bend, and they’ll be joined by tight ends coach John McNulty and running backs coach Lance Taylor. We break down our emotions and try to analyze what this means for the program moving forward, and it for its immediate potential chance of crashing the College Football Playoff. Tune in for yet another special edition as we try to break down all of the craziness of this week.
