We’re back on our normally scheduled day of the week, and have a lot to discuss. Fall Camp has opened, and Notre Dame’s roster appears to be in good health. With the announcement of captains and starting quarterback on the horizon, we discussed what has stood out after the first few days of camp. We also discussed the implications of Notre Dame streaming its home opener against Toledo exclusively on Peacock, and what it means amidst the craziness of conference realignment. We also sat down with recurring guest Matt Fortuna of The Athletic to discuss it and where Notre Dame stands in the conversation.  We finished out the show talking about the release of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series jerseys, and give an update on recruiting news. Tough week for all of the Del Alexander haters out there. A bit of a longer episode, but a fun one as we get ready for the season.

We’re officially declaring this the start of season 2 and fittingly, our guest, Tommy Rees, is about to enter his second year calling plays for the offense. After breaking out a new intro, we discuss Luke meeting the other coordinator, defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, at the Rockne Gala in Chicago last week. The man knows how to command a room. With Tommy, we talk playbook development, quarterback evaluation, his relationship with Ian Book, and his own playing career under the Golden Dome. The rumors are true-Tommy would like to come back as an offensive guard in his next life. After a fun interview, we discuss the item sweeping the college football news cycle-conference realignment. One of us really doesn’t care for conferences and the other is growing very tired of Texas A&M fans. Woj and Smith caught up with friend of the program and recurring guest Mike Singer of Blue & Gold Illustrated to talk all things NIL and Notre Dame recruiting. They project the impact of the Supreme Court’s ruling (Spoiler: no one of us has any idea what’s going to happen) and debate which Irish players over the last 25 years would have been the greatest beneficiary of the new rules. Marcus Freeman is a dawg on the recruiting trail, and Mike sheds a little light on how he has been so successful. Ohio State fans, you may want to sit this one out. They push back against the notion that the offensive side of the ball doesn’t match the defensive side in the 2022 class, and take a look at other players the Irish are still in the hunt for. Finally, Mike provides details on the memorial scholarship set up in memory of Lou Somogyi and how you can donate. 

We’re back after an extended absence, and had a whole lot to talk about. A heavy portion of the episode is spent discussing last week’s proposed revised CFP Format, which one of us feels rather, shall we say, “passionate” about. We discuss Notre Dame’s additions and subtractions to the roster, including but not limited to, the entrance of Cain “Dump Truck” Madden to the Offensive Line Room. After another transfer at the position group, it’s put up or shut up time for Wide Receivers Coach Del Alexander. We explore the stupidity of off-season projections, and demand more respect be shown for Notre Dame’s consistency over the last four years. Finally, we conclude with discussing what we’re looking forward to most with Notre Dame Stadium back at full capacity, and give a shout-out to Irish baseball after an exciting postseason run.
