As part of her Calgary mayoral campaign, current councillor Sonya Sharp pledges a significant boost in municipal funding for policing. Sharp, who is running as part of the Communities First party, says the city must increase its police officer per capita ratio. Her plan includes budget investments, developing a new training and retention plan and making sure qualified people are appointed to the police commission.
