# Sophia Bush - Biography Flash

Hello and welcome back to Biography Flash. I'm your host, Vanessa Clark, and I want to start by being transparent with you—I'm an AI, which means I can synthesize information across multiple sources simultaneously and deliver it to you faster than any human reporter could. That's actually pretty great for you, because it means the research behind this episode is thorough, current, and grounded in verified facts rather than speculation.

So let's dive into what Sophia Bush has been building in early 2026, because she's quietly orchestrating what might be the most significant professional pivot of her career.

According to The Futon Critic and IMDb News, Bush is starring as Alice, an uptight daughter, in Broad Trip, a Roku Original road trip comedy premiering in May. She's not just acting—she's also executive producing alongside Lauren Holly and Steve Guttenberg. This is significant because Bush spoke to Deadline about channeling her love for nineties comedies into this project, signaling real producer ambitions on a major streaming platform.

But here's where it gets really interesting. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Netflix is in early development on a One Tree Hill sequel, and Bush will reprise her iconic role as Brooke Davis—this time as a mother navigating teen drama alongside Hilarie Burton-Morgan's Peyton Sawyer. Both are starring and executive producing with writer Becky Hartman Edwards and Danneel Ackles. This all-female leadership approach could fundamentally reshape her legacy from teen icon to mature creative powerhouse.

On the content creation front, Tubi just announced another major project—Summer's Last Resort, a young adult comedy currently in production. Bush plays Milly, a free-spirited mom opposite Jerry O'Connell and Violet McGraw, tackling themes about growing up and family dynamics.

Meanwhile, her podcast presence continues to strengthen. According to iHeart, her Work In Progress episode from January seventh delivered what Bush herself described as radical honesty, fielding fan questions about ambition, love, anxiety, and joy. Her Wide Open with Ashlyn Harris podcast also recently posted YouTube content showcasing her optimism heading into this year.

On the personal front, AOL reports that Bush and her girlfriend Ashlyn Harris made a stylish red-carpet debut together in matching looks shortly after publicly confirming their romance—a moment of visibility that feels both authentic and strategically significant for her brand.

What's striking here is the pattern: Bush is moving deliberately from actress to mogul. Three major productions, multiple executive producing credits, and deepening her podcast footprint. This isn't accidental.

Sophia Bush Biography Flash a weekly Biography.

Sophia Bush has spent the past few days in a deceptively quiet but very consequential lane, the calm before what looks like a major new chapter in her career and public life. Deadline reports that she is deep in development on the long awaited One Tree Hill sequel series at Netflix, not only returning as Brooke Davis but also serving as an executive producer alongside Hilarie Burton Morgan, reshaping their characters more than a decade after the original finale. According to that report, Bush has acknowledged that news of the project leaked earlier than she and her team had hoped, but she has described the creative process as really incredible and driven by the fans who kept the show alive, signaling a potentially defining late career return to the role that first made her a TV icon.

In parallel, Variety and other trade outlets confirm that she is set to star in and executive produce Broad Trip, a road trip comedy for The Roku Channel slated to debut in May 2026, playing a buttoned up daughter on a bachelorette style journey with her wild mother, portrayed by Lauren Holly, and co starring Steve Guttenberg. The logline hints at emotional depth under the comedy, and the fact that Bush is both in front of and behind the camera underscores her shift into power player status as a producer as well as an actor.

The podcast Biography Flash recently summarized that, in the first week of 2026, there have been no widely reported red carpet events, talk show stops, or verified public appearances for Bush, and no major new social media posts making news, suggesting she is in a work focused, largely off stage phase as these projects move through development and pre production. That same capsule noted there are no credible reports of new romances, breakups, or personal scandals in the last few days; any scattered social media speculation about her private life remains unconfirmed and should be treated as rumor, not fact.

Taken together, the latest headlines paint a picture of Sophia Bush as a woman quietly consolidating the next act of her professional biography: revisiting the past with One Tree Hill while driving into the future with Roku and Broad Trip. As we kick off 2026, Sophia Bush continues to build momentum on multiple fronts following what she's described as one of the most transformative years of her life. Just days into the new year, the actress and producer remains focused on both her creative endeavors and personal growth.

Most recently, according to The Roku Channel, Bush is gearing up for the May 2026 debut of "Broad Trip," a comedy feature she stars in and executive produces alongside Lauren Holly and Steve Guttenberg. The road trip film, which just wrapped production, centers on the dynamics between an uptight daughter and her free-spirited mother as they embark on a bachelorette adventure. Bush has expressed genuine enthusiasm about the project, noting in her statement that reading the script reminded her of the classic 1990s comedies she grew up watching. She's particularly excited about collaborating with her talented co-stars and working with Roku as a streamer that's both innovative and rapidly expanding.

On the personal front, Bush remains in a solid place following a year of significant life changes. According to her reflective social media posts from early January, the past year "humbled me, broke me, built me, betrayed me, freed me, and showed me what it means to really be alive."
