I’m Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Saturday, February 27, 2021.

This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us.

Results from Friday’s SmackDown and New Japan Strong are straight ahead in this update but first…

(STINGER: ROH)

Former Ring Of Honor Women’s Champion Kelly Klein is now suing the company. Heel By Nature obtained the court paperwork.

The lawsuit alleges Klein was terminated by ROH at the end of last year over her complaints about pay for female performers...safety and medical protocols...and harassment.

The harassment allegations are specifically aimed at ROH wrestler Jay Lethal. Members of ROH management are also named in the lawsuit.

Klein’s attorney is Stephen P. New. He told WrestleZone the lawsuit could have wider implications, because it challenges the “independent contractor” status of pro wrestlers.

(STINGER: New Japan)

Jon Moxley is STILL the IWGP United States Champion. He got past KENTA on last night’s New Japan Strong - pinning him after a Death Rider.

On the undercard, Ren Narita submitted Chris Dickinson.

Back in Japan, the first of two big Castle Attack shows is being held this morning.

Tomorrow’s show is loaded with title matches. Kota Ibushi defends the IWGP Intercontinental Title against Tetsuya Naito...El Phantasmo vs. El Desperado vs. BUSHI for the vacant Jr. Title. Great-O-Khan challenges Hiroshi Tanahashi for the NEVER Championship...and the Guerrillas of Destiny put the tag titles on the line against Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI.

(STINGER: WWE)

We have a second match now made official for WrestleMania. Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair announced she’ll challenge Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Daniel Bryan had a chance to secure a Universal Title match against Roman Reigns with a win in last night’s main event - but the match between Bryan and Jey Uso ended in a double countout. Roman Reigns jumped Bryan after the match and beat him down as the show ended.

Apollo Crews used a new finisher - a variation on the Angle Slam - to beat Shinsuke Nakamura. Before the match, Crews talked about being descended from Nigerian royalty...and was also sporting a scarf that he used to gain an edge during the match.

Otis got the better of Rey Mysterio again. He pinned Rey after a big splash from the second rope...as Otis and Chad Gable beat Rey and Dominik Mysterio. Rey was still hurting from

The Street Profits beat King Corbin and Sami Zayn. Montez Ford pinned Zayn to get the pin.

Seth Rollins promo time in the ring was interrupted by Cesaro. Rollins tried to convince him to EMBRACE THE VISION - but all got from Cesaro was a giant - and I mean GIANT - swing.

Friday’s NXT Injury Update had a mention of MSK’s Wes Lee...following an attack by the Grizzled Young Veterans. WWE now stating that Lee has a broken hand.

(STINGER: AEW)

Coming up tomorrow...AEW presents its Sunday Special on Bleacher Report. We’ll get the Japan final from the Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament - Yuka Sakazaki vs. Ryo Mizunami.

Plus, the first-ever meeting between Riho and Thunder Rosa on the U.S. side of the bracket. The winner there faces Nyla Rose in the U.S. final on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

EVERYONE is loading up their shows for Wednesday. Of course, Dynamite will be headlined by Shaq and Jade Cargill vs. Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.

NXT Wednesday will have Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax defending the women’s tag titles against Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai.

MLW just announced Calvin Tankman vs. Laredo Kid for Wednesday’s Fusion. That’s on top of Jacob Fatu defending the MLW Heavyweight Championship against Jordan Oliver...and CONTRA’s Simon Gotch and Daivari challenging Los Parks for the tag titles.

There’s more…

Ring Of Honor is premiering a TV Title match Wednesday night on its ROH The Experience Facebook page and YouTube channel - Dragon Lee defending against Brian Johnson.

And in Japan...Stardom is running Budokan Hall with an eye-popping main event - a Hair vs. Hair Match...where the Wonder of Stardom Title is also on the line - Giulia defending against Tam Nakano.

t must be Mayhem Mania season!

Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it!

If you’re just tuning in, here’s how we got to this point.

Not every WWE wrestler is eligible to use. Under the rules of Mayhem Mania, everyone comes in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. That means anyone out with an injury is NOT eligible to use. (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.)

Others are not eligible to use for a different reason. Some of them are locked in SPACE JAIL.

5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show for the latest round of Mayhem Mania 2021. Each can make ONE of the following changes to our card:

– SWAP one wrestler or team with one in another match on the card or replace them with a wrestler or team not currently on the card

With all that business out of the way, let’s take a look at the changes made during Round FIVE of Mayhem Mania 2021!

Move #1 (by Brandon)

Move #2 (by The Rizz)

Move #3 (by Alex Kahrs)

Move #4 (by Bobbyfjtown)

Move #5 (by HEEL Bradley)

Round 5 is in the books, and we have four newly created matches on our “undercard”

Bray Wyatt & Alexa Bliss vs. Johnny Mundo & Taya vs. Bad Bunny & Bayley

Adam Cole vs. Daniel Bryan

“The Demon” Finn Balor vs. Karrion Kross vs. Aleister Black

Kushida vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

We have three matches that survived the round without being altered in any way.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Cesaro

Toni Storm vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch

Keith Lee vs. Pete Dunne vs. Roman Reigns

Finally, we have the FIRST match to graduate to this year’s SUPERCARD!

Raquel Gonzalez vs. Beth Phoenix

A match graduates if it survives THREE rounds without being altered in any way. Tina created our first graduated match and she will receive rewards! She will get to hand out a dose of PUNISHMENT to one of next week’s players. She will get a ticket to send one individual to SPACE JAIL. She’ll also get to name a participant in our first-ever Mayhem Mania WATCH PARTY! Tina will also create a new match to fill the open slot on our “undercard”. Our goal is to GRADUATE eight matches to our SUPERCARD by the time Mayhem Mania 2021 comes to an end.

The Rizz will be back next week under the “Alex Kahrs Rule”, which governs a match that does not survive the round in which it was created.

One more note: SPACE JAIL has a new resident. Mad Mike used the ticket he earned in our Elimination Chamber Challenge contest mid-round, and sent Pat McAfee to SPACE JAIL.

It’s been a wild ride so far, but we’re finally making some progress with the first match now on our SUPERCARD. Keep following along to find out what happens next. Thanks for supporting Mayhem Mania!

I’m Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Friday, February 26, 2021.

This update is brought to you by IndyWrestling.us.

Results from Thursday’s NXT UK are straight ahead in this update.

But first, we have some sad news to report.

Joseph Hudson - better known to wrestling fans as Jocephus, and later The Question Mark in the NWA...has died.

NWA President Billy Corgan first shared the news, saying Hudson “died suddenly from an as-yet undiagnosed medical issue”.

Joseph Hudson leaves behind a young son. Fans are already rallying to donate to a trust fund for him.

(STINGER: New Japan)

The biggest episode in the history of New Japan Strong is being overshadowed by multiple reports that Marty Scurll was in attendance for the tapings of Strong late last month.

Scurll parted ways with Ring Of Honor late last year - months after a #SpeakingOut accusation led to Scurll admitting to a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old girl back in 2015.

Getting back tonight’s episode of Strong. The main event is the big showdown for the IWGP United States Championship - Jon Moxley defending against KENTA.

Also on tonight’s show - Chris Dickinson vs. Ren Narita.

Back in Japan, a title change on Thursday’s Road To Castle Attack show. El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru beat El Phantasmo and Taihi Ishimori to win the junior tag titles. The pivotal moment was ELP accidentally hitting his own partner with his Sudden Death superkick.

Thursday’s show opened with Hiromu Takahashi formally relinquishing the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. He’s out for the next six months with a torn pectoral muscle.

New Japan announced a rare 3-way match for the vacant title. El Phantasmo vs. El Desperado vs. BUSHI at the second big Castle Attack show on Sunday.

Saturday’s show has Kazuchika Okada vs. EVIL and Jay White vs. Tomohiro Ishii.

Early Friday, New Japan and Mexico’s CMLL promotion issued a joint statement reaffirming their business partnership.

(STINGER: ROH)

Ring Of Honor’s weekend TV is gonna be a big one.

Shane Taylor gets his shot at Rush and the ROH World Championship. Taylor just won the ROH 6-man titles on last weekend’s episode.

This weekend’s show also has a match for the ROH tag titles - Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham defending against Dragon Lee and Kenny King.

ROH also made headlines Friday...announcing the signing of EC3. He just returned to ROH TV on last weekend’s episode.

(STINGER: WWE)

There are new NXT UK Tag Team Champions. Pretty Deadly - Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker - ended the 500+ day reign of Gallus on Thursday’s episode.

Xia Brookside beat Nina Samuels. As a result, Samuels is now Brookside’s personal assistant for a month.

Bailey Matthews - son of William Regal - made his NXT UK debut - taking a loss against Tyler Bate.

As of Thursday night, WWE has yet to announce really anything of substance for tonight’s SmackDown.

Progress Wrestling and Paul Robinson parted ways on Thursday. Progress came under fire after fans learned Robinson was backstage at recent tapings. Robinson was named in a #SpeakingOut accusation over the summer.

Robinson was holding the Progress Proteus title, which is now vacated.

A special welcome to those of you listening on TheWrestlingRevolution.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: [email protected].

Results from last night’s AEW Dynamite and NXT are straight ahead in this update but first…

(STINGER: AEW)

A BIG announcement from AEW earlier in the day Wednesday. It announced the signing of Paul Wight - better known as the Big Show.

AEW says Wight will join the commentary team alongside Tony Shiavone for a new YouTube show: AEW Dark: Elevation. It was also mentioned on Dynamite that Wight is licensed to wrestle in AEW. Wight is set to appear on next week’s Dynamite.

The new weekly show will debut on Monday, March 15th at 7PM.

Also on Wednesday, Tony Khan tweeted that a second AEW show for TNT or another WarnerMedia outlet is still in the works for sometime this year.

Lance Archer is in the 6-man Ladder Match at Revolution, where the winner gets a shot at the TNT Championship. Archer beat Rey Fenix in the main event of last night’s Dynamite.

Another spot in that match will be decided on next Wednesday’s Dynamite - when Dark Order’s Preston “10” Vance faces the Acclaimed’s Max Caster.

We also got two new matches announced for Revolution on Sunday, March 7th.

Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor vs. Miro vs. Kip Sabian...and a Tag Team Casino Battle Royal - with the winner getting a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championships.

It took TWO Beast Bombs, but Nyla Rose was able to beat Dr. Britt Baker last night. Rose advances to the U.S. final in the Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament - next Wednesday against the winner of Riho vs. Thunder Rosa.

No one is safe on Dynamite!

First, The Young Bucks’ DAD was attacked and bloodied backstage by Chris Jericho and MJF. Papa Buck was taken away in an ambulance.

Sting dragged a body bag out on stage to confront Team Taz - and revealed an unconscious HOOK inside. Darby Allin rode a zipline from the upper deck down to the ring...and Darby and Sting ran wild on Team Taz - Sting laid out Cage with a Stinger Splash and a Scorpion Death Drop.

Before that, Cage and Ricky Starks did beat the Varsity Blonds.

Hangman Page beat Isiah Kassidy. Page got an assist from Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds. After the match, Matt Hardy vowed revenge against Dark Order, and got an immediate start on that...by tossing Alan Angels off the stage.

Jon Moxley blew through Ryan Nemeth. AEW Champ Kenny Omega was only seen in a brief backstage segment - in a workshop - apparently helping to build something related to the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match between him and Mox at Revolution.

(STINGER: WWE)

Adam Cole promised an explanation...for his recent attacks on Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor - but we didn’t really get on. Instead, we got an emotional and apparently remorseful Cole at the end of last night’s NXT.

Don’t worry. Cole did eventually show his true colors. But first, he was interrupted by Roderick Strong. Who was himself interrupted by Balor - who ran through Strong to get at Cole.

Cole and Strong worked together to get the better of Balor. Then, Strong clotheslined Cole. Only problem is...Strong seemed to regret it. That allowed Cole to draw him in for a low blow, rip the Undisputed Era chain off Strong’s neck...and hit him with a superkick.

Earlier, WWE announced that Kyle O’Reilly will be out of action for 4-6 weeks following Cole’s attack on him last week.

Dexter Lumis submitted North American Champion Johnny Gargano in a non-title match last night.

Io Shirai is set to defend the NXT Women’s Championship in two weeks...against Toni Storm. Shirai beat Zoey Stark in a non-title match last night.

The No Disqualification Match between Karrion Kross and Santos Escobar was more like a handicap match - as Kross battled all three members of Legado Del Fantasmo, starting in the notorious NXT parking lot...before making their way back inside the Capital Wrestling Center...where Kross finally put away Escobar.

Also, Xia Brookside vs. Nina Samuels. The loser will become the winner’s personal assistant for a month.

WWE officially announced the largest class of recruits in the history of the Performance Center on Wednesday. Some of the names have already debuted on NXT TV - including LA Knight, the former Eli Drake.

Others were widely reported and rumored - but only now confirmed by WWE - including Taya Valkyrie and Blake Christian.

(STINGER: New Japan)

The last stop on New Japan’s Road To Castle Attack this morning. The main event this morning is Junior Tag Title Match - El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori defending against El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

Tetsuya Naito is BACK on the card for the first time since he was sidelined with a knee injury early last week. He’ll be part of a 6-man tag. He’s set to challenge Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship on Sunday’s Castle Attack show.

This update is brought to you by the Wrestling Mayhem Show. Check out the new episode right now wherever you get your podcasts.

Results from last night’s Impact Wrestling and AEW Dark are straight ahead in this update but first…

(STINGER: WWE)

Adam Cole is promising some answers on tonight’s NXT...following surprise attacks on his Undisputed Era cohort Kyle O’Reilly and NXT Champion Finn Balor. Cole tweeted earlier this week that he’ll “explain everything”...and added that “it’s a lot more than just ‘why’”.

There are also some major non-title matches.

Santos Escobar must face Karrion Kross in a No Disqualification Match. If he doesn’t GM William Regal says he’ll strip Escobar of his cruiserweight championship and suspend him.

Some matches just announced yesterday - North American Champion Johnny Gargano vs. Dexter Lumis…

And NXT Women’s Champ Io Shirai will face Zoey Stark

Plus, the Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Drake Maverick and Killian Dane...and Xia Li vs. Kacy Catanzaro

Samoa Joe is now a regular on the Raw announce team - but he’s still hoping to make an in-ring return from a lengthy injury absence..

(Samoa Joe Injury Update)

Joe speaking with SK Wrestling. He declined to share a timetable for any possible return.

Joe has been sidelined since he reportedly struck his head during a commercial shoot last February.

(STINGER: AEW)

AEW’’s Tony Khan discussing the future of the Forbidden Door on Tuesday.

(Khan On Forbidden Door)

Khan speaking on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

Tonight’s Dynamite is LIVE with Rey Fenix vs. Lance Archer in the main event. The winner gets a spot in the 6-man ladder match at Revolution where the winner will get a shot at the TNT Championship.

The Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament rolls on tonight. We’ll get a semifinal match from the U.S. side of the bracket - Dr. Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose.

Brian Cage and Ricky Starks vs. the Varsity Blondes…

Hangman Page vs. Isiah Kassidy.

Jon Moxley vs. Ryan Nemeth

Nemeth BEAT Aaron Solow on last night’s Dark. PRETTY Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi were out to watch the match...and all three joined forces for a post-match beatdown on Solow before QT Marshall, Lee Johnson and Nick Comoroto ran them off.

Brooke Havok, in only her second-ever match in AEW, tore her ACL midway through her match against LEGIT Leyla Hirsch. Havok finished the match, but did take the loss.

Kip Sabian returned to ring action for the first time early December. He beat Fuego Del Sol

And KiLynn King beat Tesha Price

(STINGER: Impact)

The long-simmering feud between Impact World Champ Rich Swann and Moose will finally come to a head. They’ll finally meet one-on-one at the Impact Plus exclusive Sacrifice show on March 13th.

Moose’s TNA World Championship is once again a recognized championship in Impact Wrestling. Scott D’Amore made that announcement at the top of last night’s show...after Moose attacked Jake Something. He had just won a Tables Match against Deaner.

D’Amore ordered Moose to defend his TNA Title against Jake in the main event. Moose did prevail in that match.

Also added to Sacrifice - Jordynne Grace and Jazz will challenge Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz for the Knockouts Tag Titles

Grace and Jazz earned the shot by beating Kimber Lee and Susan. After the match, Grace and Jazz found ODB beat up backstage.

Chris Bey, Ace Austin and Black Taurus beat the team of Willie Mack, Trey Miguel and Josh Alexander in a 6-man tag...when Bey pinned Mack.

The winning side of Bey, Austin and Taurus will now face one another in a 3-way on NEXT week’s Impact. The winner of that match gets a shot at the X-Division Title held by TJP.

MLW announced Tuesday it signed Leo Brien to a long-term contract. He’s been appearing on Fusion recently as part of the tag team the Dirty Blondes.
