Who is doing the talking - your Ego or your Higher-Self?

In today’s episode Valerie talks about a painful moment from middle school that led her to ultimately living the next two decades thinking she’s not enough.

This feeling of not being enough led her to believe that at her very best, she will never be good enough. What she ended up doing was treating every dating experience like she’s going on an audition 

Dating exhausted her because of how inauthentically she was showing up and had to keep up with what she was pretending to be. Men were drawn to her because of what they thought she was rather than who she authentically was. Can you relate?

She let her ego take control after that experience and was unable to trust anything different. 

Ego: the voice that tries to keep you safe (making you think there is danger ahead 

Example:

“Don’t start that business - you know most businesses fail. What about taxes and health insurance? 

“Don’t trust the man you’re seeing - this is similar to last time when you got hurt. He will probably hurt you”

-Higher-self: the voice that tells you the truth 

-Your ego is LOUD - shouting at you to be heard. Your higher self (the truth) is softer, and you often times have to ask for her opinion.
