  • Souderton Area High School "ALL IN" Podcast Episode #11 with ANDREW VINCE

    Andrew Vince graduated in 2020 and was standout on both the football and basketball teams!  He is regarded as one of the best leaders in Souderton's recent history. On the football team, he was a two-year captain who played quarterback and defensive back during scholastic career, totaling over 200 career tackles, 2,500 passing yards and 25 total touchdowns. He completed 83-of-148 passes for 1,198 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 247 yards and five more scores during senior season in 2019.  He also added 80 tackles, four passes defended, an interception and blocked kick during final high school season.  Andrew helped Souderton to an 8-3 record and an appearance in the PIAA District 1, 6A playoffs in 2019. while earning Second Team 6A All-State at defensive back and also first team All-Continental Conference at defensive back as voted by the coaches.  In 2018, Andrew threw for 1,063 yards and five touchdowns, added four rushing scores and recorded 52 tackles as a junior in 2018.  On the hardwood, Andrew was a three year starter and two-time captain.  He shares his HS journey with our listeners, as well as catching us up to speed on his current freshman season at Rutgers University!

    Jake Phaup graduated from Souderton Area High School in 2017.  He embodied the core values of the athletic program and truly changed the complexion of the boys lacrosse program.  This episode is a deep dive into the mindset of a HS and Collegiate All American, as Jake shares genuine and authentic vulnerability surrounding his lacrosse and personal journey!

    Career Overview: All-American faceoff specialist ... After his true freshman season where he played just four games, he took the bulk of the faceoffs in 2019, winning over 60-percent of restarts and was one of the nation's top faceoff men in 2020 ... Led the ACC in faceoff percentage over the past two seasons.


    Junior Year (2020): Inside Lacrosse/Maverik Honorable Mention All-American ... Played in all-five games of the shortened 2020 season, finishing the year ranked sixth nationally in faceoff win percentage (.679) after winning 53-of-70 restarts. Combined with Danny Varello and Nate Garlow, the faceoff unit finished the year fifth in the country and ranked third nationally in ground balls per game ... Individually, he led the ACC in faceoff win percentage (.679) and was fourth in the league with 6.2 ground balls per game ... His faceoff win percentage would have been the fourth-best single season in Syracuse history if he was able to maintain it ... Led the team with 37 ground balls ... Won 9-of-15 faceoffs and picked up three ground balls vs. Johns Hopkins (3/7) ... Won 16-of-19 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls in a win over Army (2/23). The 16 wins was a career high ... Went 8-of-10 at the faceoff X and collected six ground balls in the win over Binghamton (2/15) ... Tied a career high with 15 faceoff wins and collected 11 ground balls in the season opener. Won 15-of-22 restarts in total against Colgate (2/7).

    Sophomore Year (2019): Emerged as the Orange’s top faceoff specialist, seeing action in all 14 games and going 137-of-226 at the faceoff X ... Led the ACC with a faceoff win percentage of .606 ... Collected a team-best 63 ground balls ... Won 8-of-16 faceoffs and picked up three ground balls at Navy (4/20) ... Won 11-of-18 faceoffs against Cornell (4/9) ... Went 13-of-20 at the X at Hobart (4/2) ... Dominated  faceoffs against Notre Dame, going 15-of-21 and collecting eight ground balls (3/30) ... Won 8-of-12 faceoffs against Duke (3/24) ... Won 15-of-20 restarts with four ground balls against Rutgers (3/15) ... Won 8-of-14 faceoffs and picked up four ground balls in the win over Johns Hopkins (3/9) ... Won 12-of-23 restarts in the high-scoring game against Virginia (3/2) ... Had a career day, winning 15-of-18 faceoffs and picked up a career best 11 ground balls in Syracuse’s win over Army (2/24) ... Went 8-of-13 at the X and picked up eight ground balls against Colgate (2/8).

    Freshman Year (2018): Participated in four games as a faceoff specialist … Took 12 faceoffs, going 6-of-12 on the season ... Went 3-for-3 on faceoffs and picked up a ground ball against Colgate (5/5) ... Won his lone faceoff against Cornell (4/10) ... Won his only faceoff against Hobart (4/3) ... Picked up a ground ball during his collegiate debut in the Orange the win at Duke (3/24).

    Before SU: U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American ... Scored 32 goals, contributed 16 assists and won 75-percent of his faceoffs as a senior … Two-time team captain at Sourderton … Three-time All-Suburban League First Team selection … Two-time All-Intelligencer selection … Played club lacrosse for Twist … Hotbed All-Star Team selection ... Philly Showcase All-Star … Also wrestled in high school and was an All-American.
