Our country is multi cultural now. Most of us have friends that we care about that are muslim or hindu. How can we reach them for Christ when we know so little about what they believe? That is where Ken Samples and his wonderful book God Among Sages comes in. Today, we will end the series. In order to understand these religions better, we need to understand Christianity better. In our last episode, I began reading to you the first half of the article entitled, "Francis’s Tenacious Lady" by Igrid Peterson. The article was about one of St. Francis’s first female follower, Clare. Please go back and listen to this episode to have the full impact. Let me summarize by saying that Clare grew up different in her very affluent home. She was fascinated by Francis and wanted to follow him and live a celibate life. Her family has other more traditional plans for her and so she runs aways to the early Franciscans. After several attempts of the family to take her back by force, the Franciscans relocate her to San Damiano. We pick up the story here.

Way back in issue 28 I taught you all about St. Francis of Assisi. After that episode, I read GK Chesteron’s biography of Francis. I really have grown quite fond of this Catholic saint even though I am very much a Protestant. His passion for Christ is very admirable. So, when I grabbed issue 42 and saw his face on the cover, all I could say was, “Hello Old Friend.” This episode, I would like to read to you the "Did you know" article written by Mark Galli and Part One of an interesting article about one of Francis’ female followers, "Clare of Assisi called Francis’ Tenacious Lady" by Ingrid Peterson.
