  • His Betrayal Did Not Make You Less Worthy (If You Listen to Just One Episode, Make It This One)

His Betrayal Did Not Make You Less Worthy
    Soul Care with Christy Dunn

Have you ever looked in the mirror after your husband’s betrayal and wondered, “Why wasn’t I enough?”
Maybe you’ve compared yourself to another woman. Questioned your appearance. Wondered if you could have been a better wife.

Even when you know his choices weren’t your fault, it’s hard not to take them personally.

In this episode of Soul Care with Christy Dunn, we’re talking about something that often gets lost in the pain of betrayal: how you see yourself.

    We’ll talk about:

    • The difference between self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth.
    • Why your husband’s choices are not a reflection of your value.
    • How childhood experiences can shape the way you see yourself.
    • Why understanding someone’s deeper struggles doesn’t mean excusing their behavior.
    • How to recognize and challenge the negative thoughts you’ve started believing about yourself.
    • Simple ways to begin rebuilding your confidence and enjoying your life again.
    • How faith can help you find steadiness when trust has been broken.
    • You’ll also hear practical ways to start taking care of yourself, reconnecting with others, and remembering who you are outside of what’s happening in your marriage.

Because your husband didn’t create your worth when he married you, and he didn’t destroy it when he betrayed you.

You don’t have to become prettier, thinner, more successful, or a different woman to be worthy of love and respect.

You already have value. It’s time to start seeing that again.

I’m Christy Dunn, and I’m really glad you’re here.

    • Stop Trying To Find The Woman You Used to Be

Stop Trying to Find the Woman You Used to Be

      https://www.christydunncoaching.com/soul-care-program-info

“I just want my old self back.”

It’s one of the most common things women say after betrayal or broken trust. You want to feel happy again. You want your confidence back. You want to look in the mirror and recognize the woman looking back at you.

That’s understandable. You didn’t choose what happened to you.

You can begin choosing who you become.

In this episode of Soul Care with Christy Dunn, we’re talking about why healing isn’t always about going back, and why there may be a woman inside of you that you haven’t even met yet.

      We’ll talk about:

      • Why “I want my old self back” is often a longing to go back to not knowing
      • What betrayal can feel like: being sideswiped by a bus you never saw coming
      • Why you need time to recover, but you don’t have to stay on the side of the road forever
      • Grieving the woman you used to be, and giving her compassion
      • Why you don’t have to go backward to heal
      • Coming out of the fire refined instead of ruined
      • The small signs that you’re starting to come back to life
      • Making room for things you enjoy, even while you’re still healing
      • Why isolation makes your world smaller, and why women need other women
      • One line I hope you remember:

That bus doesn’t get to decide the direction of the rest of your life.

The betrayal wasn’t a gift. You didn’t need to be hurt to become a better woman, and you didn’t deserve what happened. You can still choose to grow, learn, and become someone you’re proud of.

You don’t have to wait until everything in your marriage is fixed to begin enjoying your life. You can be grieving and still have a good day. You can have unanswered questions and still laugh with your girlfriends.

So here’s something to think about this week: When was the last time you did something simply because you wanted to? Not because your husband wanted to, not because your kids needed you, not because it was on your list. If you don’t know the answer yet, that’s okay. Just start getting curious.

If you’re ready to stop walking through this alone, I’d love to walk alongside you inside Soul Care Pathway, my 8-week program for women. Community is at the heart of it. You’ll be with a small group of women who understand what you’re carrying, so you don’t have to explain why this is so hard.

      • Your Marriage Survived The Betrayal, But Did You Actually?

Your Marriage Survived the Betrayal, But Did You Actually Heal?

        https://www.christydunncoaching.com/free-live-marriage-clarity-workshop

From the outside, everything looks fine. You’re still married. The kids are going to school, the bills are getting paid, you’re sitting next to each other at church. If someone asks how things are going, you say, “We’re good. We’re doing better.”

Life forced you to keep going. Lunches still had to be packed. Dinner still had to be made. Eventually things started to feel normal again.

        Normal doesn’t mean healed.

In this episode of Soul Care with Christy Dunn, we’re talking about the difference between a marriage that healed after betrayal and a marriage where you simply learned to live with what happened.

        We’ll talk about:

        • Why a woman who is functioning and a woman who is emotionally healthy are two different women
        • The apology happened, but did the repair happen?
        • The two doors after broken trust: the smooth, comfortable one and the narrow, rocky one
        • The difference between “I’m sorry, it’ll never happen again” and real ownership
        • Why the man who is actually changing is often quieter and makes fewer promises
        • How you can get along with your husband and still feel completely disconnected
        • How expectations get lowered so gradually you don’t notice it happening
        • Why time passing and healing are not the same thing
        • What happens when all the attention goes to his recovery and yours gets left behind
        • Keeping everyone comfortable vs. actually having peace
        • The question nobody wants to ask: do you want to live the rest of your life exactly like this?
        • One line I hope you remember:

You can learn to live around a wound without ever letting it heal.

This isn’t about bringing up the betrayal for the rest of your marriage. There’s a difference between something you’ve genuinely worked through and something you’ve simply stopped talking about.

So here’s something to think about this week: What is staying exactly where you are costing you? Not just your marriage. You. Your energy, your confidence, your friendships, your ability to be present with your kids, and the woman you want to become.

If this episode hit close to home, I’d love for you to join me for my Free Live Marriage Clarity Workshop, 3 Mistakes Keeping You Emotionally Stuck in Your Marriage, on Tuesday, October 27 at 7:00 PM Pacific (10:00 PM Eastern). We’ll be together live on Zoom, and there’s something healing about being in a room with other women who get it. If you can’t make it live, a replay will be sent to you after you register.

If you’d rather start on your own time, my Free Marriage Clarity Webinar is a good place to begin. We’ll talk about getting clearer about what’s actually happening and figuring out your next steps without having to decide your whole future today.

If you’re ready to walk through that narrow door and do the work of healing, I’d love to walk alongside you inside Soul Care Pathway, my 8-week program for women. It isn’t always comfortable, but you won’t be doing it alone.

This Might Be Hard to Hear: Healing Isn't Always Comfortable

          https://www.christydunncoaching.com/marriage-clarity-webinar

You finally set the boundary. You finally said what you've been afraid to say. Instead of relief, you feel sick to your stomach.

Maybe he got irritated. Maybe there's tension in the house now. Maybe you didn't check his phone tonight and your anxiety is louder than ever. Part of you is thinking, "Maybe I should just take it back so everybody can be okay again."

In this episode of Soul Care with Christy Dunn, we're talking about why getting healthier doesn't always feel better at first, and why something being uncomfortable doesn't mean it's wrong.

          We'll talk about:

          • Why healing can feel harder before it starts to feel better
          • The difference between "this feels uncomfortable" and "this is wrong"
          • Why a boundary isn't the sentence you say, but what you do next
          • Why a boundary working doesn't mean the other person liked it
          • The difference between courage and waiting for certainty
          • Letting the silence sit instead of rescuing everyone from discomfort, including yourself
          • The difference between discomfort and being unsafe
          • Why new can feel wrong simply because it's unfamiliar
          • What willingness looks like, and taking responsibility for the part that actually belongs to you
          • One line I hope you remember:

A boundary working does not mean the other person liked it.

You don't have to feel ready. You don't have to be fearless or perfectly calm. The goal isn't knowing exactly what's going to happen. It's becoming a woman who knows, "Whatever happens, I can handle myself."

You become her one uncomfortable decision at a time.

So here's something to sit with this week: Where in your life have you been treating discomfort like proof that you should stop? The next time that feeling shows up, ask yourself, "Is this actually wrong? Or is this just hard?"

If you're wondering where to begin, my Free Marriage Clarity Webinar is a good next step. We'll talk about finding peace, getting clearer about what's happening, and figuring out your next steps without having to decide your whole future today. Come exactly where you are.

If you're ready for more support, I'd love to walk alongside you inside Soul Care Pathway. You don't need to have it all figured out. You don't need to know whether you're staying or leaving. You just need to be willing.

          • Your Husband Doesn’t Have To Change Before You Do

What happens when you’re waiting for your husband to change before you allow yourself to move forward?

Maybe you’re waiting for him to go to counseling, tell you the truth, apologize, stop drinking, become more transparent, or finally understand how deeply he has hurt you.

In this episode of Soul Care with Christy Dunn, we’re talking about something that can be incredibly difficult to hear: your husband doesn’t have to change before you do.

That doesn’t mean his choices are your responsibility. If he has betrayed you, lied to you, struggled with addiction, or made choices that have hurt your marriage, those are his choices and his responsibility. But you also don’t have to hand over your healing, your peace, or your future while you wait for him to decide what he’s going to do.

Sometimes focusing on what he needs to change can keep you from asking a much harder question: What am I going to do if he doesn’t?

In this episode, we talk about:

            • Why waiting for your husband to change can keep you stuck
            • The difference between acknowledging that he needs to change and believing you can’t get healthier until he does
            • Why you cannot control another adult’s choices, even when you desperately want your marriage to improve
            • The questions you can start asking about what you need, what you’re okay with, and what you’re no longer willing to live with
            • Why setting boundaries and getting help can feel uncomfortable, especially when your husband doesn’t agree
            • Why you don’t have to decide today whether you’re staying married or getting divorced
            • How you can love your husband, pray for your marriage, and still acknowledge that something isn’t okay
            • Why becoming calmer, clearer, and stronger can help you make decisions from a grounded place instead of panic or fear
            • How to stop playing detective and start trusting yourself again
            • The one thing you already know you need to do, even if you’ve been waiting for him to go first
            • If you love your husband and desperately want your marriage to work, but you also know you cannot keep putting your life and healing on hold while you wait for him to change, this episode is for you.

You don’t have to know exactly what your marriage will look like in the future. You can start by asking yourself, “What am I willing to do?” Then choose one thing you know you need to do for yourself and take that first step.

If you’re ready for more support, I’d love to help you inside Soul Care Pathway. You don’t have to figure all of this out by yourself. Listen now and share this episode with a woman who needs to hear it.

            • When You Start Getting Help & He Doesn't Like It

What happens when you finally start getting support, healing, and learning how to set healthy boundaries… and your husband doesn’t like it?

In this episode of Soul Care with Christy Dunn, we’re talking about something I see happen often: a woman begins to change, and suddenly the patterns that used to “work” in her marriage don’t work anymore.

Maybe you’re learning to stop engaging in yelling. Maybe you’re no longer explaining yourself for hours. Maybe you’re setting boundaries and actually following through. And sometimes, when you stop participating in an unhealthy cycle, the other person pushes back.

That doesn’t automatically make your husband a terrible person—and this isn’t about husband-bashing. But it does mean you’re allowed to get the support you need, even if he doesn’t completely understand or agree with it yet.

In this episode, we talk about:

              • Why your healing can change the dynamic in your marriage
              • What may happen when you begin setting and holding boundaries
              • Why his discomfort doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something wrong
              • How to step away from unhealthy interactions without guilt
              • The difference between trying to change him and learning how to change your response
              • Why you don’t need your husband’s permission to get healthy support
              • How becoming calmer, clearer, and stronger can actually give your marriage a better chance—not destroy it
              • If you love your husband and don’t want your marriage to end, but you also know you cannot keep living in the same painful or unhealthy cycle, this episode is for you.

If you’re ready for more support, I’d love to help you inside Soul Care. You don’t have to figure all of this out by yourself. Listen now and share this episode with a woman who needs to hear it.

              • The Gaslighting Nobody Talks About

You probably know what gaslighting is. But recognizing it when it’s happening in your own marriage? That’s different. Sometimes you go into a conversation knowing exactly what hurt you, and somehow you walk away wondering if **you’re the problem**. Maybe you’re too sensitive. Maybe you misunderstood. Maybe you remembered it wrong. Maybe you shouldn’t have asked the question in the first place. And after enough of those conversations, something else can happen: **you start doing the doubting for him.**

In this episode of Soul Care, we’re talking about what gaslighting can actually sound like in a marriage, how it’s different from normal defensiveness, why women eventually get quiet, and what happens when you stop trusting your own voice.

We also talk about: * Gaslighting vs. ordinary disagreement and defensiveness

                * How a conversation about his behavior can suddenly become about yours

                * Why bringing up hurt can actually be an attempt to restore connection

                * Why fewer arguments don’t necessarily mean your marriage has more peace

                * The questions you’re allowed to ask in your own marriage

                * What gaslighting can look like when betrayal or broken trust is involved

                * The difference between facts, feelings and assumptions

                * How you can start gaslighting yourself without even realizing it

                * Forgiveness, grace, submission and the difference between keeping the peace and actually having peace

                * How to begin using your voice again without turning every conversation into a fight One line I hope you remember:

**Someone else’s discomfort with your question doesn’t make your question inappropriate.

**You’re a grown woman in an adult marriage. You’re allowed to ask questions. You’re allowed to say something hurt. You’re allowed to disagree. And you don’t have to talk yourself out of what you know just because someone else doesn’t like hearing it.

If this episode hits close to home and you’re wondering where to begin, my Free Marriage Clarity Webinar is a great next step. I’m also getting ready to open another group of women inside my **Soul Care Pathway**, where we go much deeper into finding clarity, rebuilding your voice, creating boundaries, rebuilding trust and figuring out what moving forward looks like for you.

              • The Mistake That's Keeping You Emotionally Stuck

Are you waiting for him to change before you let yourself heal? Not just hoping he changes — is your healing literally on pause until he does?

In this episode, Christy names the mistake she sees over and over in the women she coaches: handing a man the keys to your healing when he may not be equipped, willing, or ready to use them. She calls it what it is — not a healing strategy, but a hostage situation.

                Inside this episode:

Why waiting for him to change feels logical (even righteous) after betrayal — and why it isn't the same as accountability.

What the waiting actually costs you: your presence with your kids, your friendships, your own body.

The difference between a boundary and a request — and why a boundary never needs his permission.

What healing "without his permission" actually looks like: boundaries, rebuilding self-trust, and finding peace that doesn't depend on the outcome.

Why letting go of waiting is one of the most empowering shifts you can make — and how it can actually make real change more possible for him, without that being the goal.

No matter what he chooses, you still have a life to live. Starting today — not "once he." 🎧
