Martin Friedman helps introduce Maya Savage in this week's podcast. Maya Savage is a facilitator with The Soul Focused Group, and owns her own yoga business called Reclaiming Savage. Maya begins with telling her story through school, and growing up in a holistic household. She often found herself isolated from others for being different from others her age. Maya goes on to tell listeners the stressful and freeing journey she had while working in the education system as a teacher. Her story shows how difficult systems and institutions are to navigate when change isn't wanted. We are excited to have Maya Savage as one of our facilitators. Her story is an amazing one to listen to, and she will be back next week to talk more with Martin.

Dr. Martina Tam and Martin Friedman tackle a tough topic in this new podcast. Martina Tam has worked in many remote locations as a doctor. In this podcast she shares her experiences with racism in the healthcare system. She explains that the dialogue about patients can be clouded with judgement and stereotypes. Which can lead to bad and unequal care of that patient. She believes looking beyond the patient's health and focusing on their life that caused them to be unhealthy can benefit the healthcare system. Albert Gay joins Martin Friedman again this week to discuss the impact racism has on public health. Gay discusses the history the U.S. has with creating health organizations, and the studies they conducted. We see that as organizations and institutions become more diverse it offers more solutions to public health care problems. Martin Friedman introduces Albert Gay to everyone this week. Together they dive deep into his soul focused journey and the work he has done. A big part of Albert's identity is his home in Gary, Indiana. Together Martin and Albert discuss the history and changes a city can see over time. As more people move into cities and urban areas the demographic changes. When these changes occur stigmas and tension can rise. Throughout Albert's life he has found he gets the best work done by making connections. Making genuine connections with people can only strengthen our work. Dustin Washington is back with Martin Friedman this week to conclude their discussion around the power of forgiveness. Both Martin and Dustin have worked in the social justice movement for years, and they both acknowledge the work they did with their soul. However, a lot of us show up to work and gatherings with baggage. The social justice movement is a movement looking to undo trauma, but sometimes causes more trauma to the people trying to undo it. Forgiveness is for us. And for us to build new organizations and institutions we must recognize the power forgiveness has over us. We can't continue to be in the constant cycle of carrying our traumas with us.  We hope these podcasts help you realize the power of forgiveness just as we did.
