Soul in Love

In this week's episode, Val and Bryce chat with their lifelong friend, Semaj Wallace, to take a trip down memory lane. They talk friendships, relationships, and recall very interesting moments along their journey as friends. Semaj played such a major role in the Hendersons' relationship at its beginning and it was important to include him in this storytelling process.

In this week's episode, Bryce and Val dive a little deeper into some of the problems they faced while in previous relationships, while also addressing the fact that there was little time between their breakups and the time in which they made it official. The Hendersons also talk a bit about how situationships also show up among relationships with friends, family and jobs. 

If you don't remember a single thing this week,  remember that consistency is important for relationships, including friendships and those with family members. Bryce was and is as consistent as they come, so in this episode we explore a bit of that as well as why it was important for us to be friends for more than a year before we started dating. We also touch on self-discipline and how that helped Bryce set some boundaries. 

In their first episode, Bryce and Val Marie tell you how they met more than 10 years ago in North Carolina on the campus of Elizabeth City State University. They use their story to talk about some of the lessons they learned about their first interaction. Bryce & Val Marie highlight some important tips about making the first move, asking the right questions and being upfront about situationships.

From our struggles to our experiences to our ups and downs, but mostly all of the things that have kept us Soul in Love for nearly a decade! Black and LGBTQ+ love is so important, and we want to share our love story while also highlighting other Black and LGBTQ+ couples. We’ll also be inviting some special guests to the show who will talk about the ins and outs of healthy relationships and offer our listeners advice.
