SOUL OF SYDNEY Feel-Good FUNK RADIO

A bootleg of a deeper Gospel House release from years back, Yass - He Reigns, featuring excerpts from a sermon by Philip Anthony Mitchell layered in over the top.

Originally put together for the Easter Gospel House podcast we did, however we didn't end up using this exact version, so we thought it would be a sweet one to release to friends and fam.

If you are feeling it, please email us and we can send you a version.

We hope you enjoy, and please check out the original cut from YASS https://www.discogs.com/master/642399-Yass-He-Reigns?srsltid=AfmBOoqzzzupY3EzUEa6xsPnP2H9C_B2ORK338305ypY0SMwa4pXRhoL

SOUL OF SYDNEY Podcast #423: Sydney Beat-Maker, Crate Digger, DJ & all-around legend DJ JUZZLIKEDAT doing it live at SOUL OF SYDNEY feat. OYOBI at SYDNEY FESTIVAL MOONSHINE BAR 2025 as the KATMA dance show afterparty.

Closing out a dope dancefloor in style with a heavy dose of FUNK, SOUL, DISCO, HIP HOP & a touch of BBOY BREAKS with MC MIRRAH ON the MIC.

Massive love to our bro, he was one of the first DJ's to get on board with our jams many years ago when we were just starting out.. helping out & giving us ideas and support and the confidence to do jams very early on. It was dope to see him doing his thing alongside Mirrah & closing out with a dope eclectic dancefloor.

Big Love

A dope mix from Hip Hop & Funk don, DJ NORMSKI who was in town to throwdown a dope 1-hour selection of heavy FUNK, SOUL & JAZZY HIP HOP REMIXEs, EDITS & BOOTLEGS to close out the 13th Birthday celebration last month for podcast episode #419.

FROM DJ SPINNA PODCASTS:

Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr. (April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984)

The whole world knows that I’m a huge Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince buff.

But the other beast of a soul artist that I love to death is Marvin Gaye, of course! His music deeply expresses the soul of a man.

The most bewildering thing about Marvin that I’ve come to understand more in my adult years is how he was able express his life experiences so artistically despite all his traumatic upheaval. I mean, his pops was a cross dressing preacher that practically despised his own son. I’ll never forget the day I found out his dad took him out, the day before his birthday! I couldn’t understand it and I was

sad as hell. But life is wild that way. All that pain he endured led to greatness.

Check these two youtube clips.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUfsI9jJr_I&feature=related

(Tom Joyner interview) The most honest interview I think I've ever seen an artist do while they're STILL dealing with their issues, not after.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ9FViYsDQA

His dad was illmatic!

And a suggested read... Divided Soul: The Life Of Marvin Gaye by David Ritz (who actually co wrote Sexual Healing)

This book will change your life and have you paying more attention to Marvin's lyrics. I guarantee it!

I grew up with his music like so many so I thought it was only right to bless the world with a mix. Included here

here in this first episode are some rare releases, B-sides, alternate versions, exclusive re-edits and remixes courtesy of myself and some legendary dj/producer friends.

More Marvin heat to come shortly...

Enjoy
