We are conditioned and programmed for some Dos and some Don'ts in life. Entrepreneurship is one of the biggest don'ts that we have been programmed for. That's why the moment you talk about starting a business, your family intervenes against it, as if you are on drugs. Its very difficult to find 1 member in your whole family tribe who is going to jump on that idea.
So on that foundation, if you think about starting a business, you will get nothing but resistance. In family gatherings you will be looked down upon, at your workplace, they will secretly laugh at you, so much so that you will start doubting your intentions and your ideas and before you give up on your business venture (which hasn't even started, I want you to listen to this episode.
Today also I continue to talk about marketing because if a business does not market, it ceases to exist pretty quickly or stunts its growth easily.
I am covering the topic of Marketing right after micro-niche selection and you understanding the importance of becoming an authority BECAUSE many businesses make this mistake of not MARKETING their services at all. They jump straight to selling and talking about benefits and features. That is completely a wrong way of getting projects. That approach puts you in the slave mode where you are seen begging for a project. You lose power in the conversation when you call someone and try to sell your services.
You always want to position yourself as an authority figure like a surgeon without whom their business would die. That positioning comes when you have practiced that one kick 10000 times (Bruce Lee).
The act of marketing your services either using PULL or PUSH strategy puts you in an authority position where you are the master of your art and people can approach you if they want their problem solves.
Listen to the episode to know more details.
In this episode, I discuss why it is absolutely essential for you to become an authority in your domain of expertise. When I started my business back in 2018, I didn't know what EXACTLY I was going to do. I know that's crazy but that's the truth. I didn't know. Of course there were many skills in my kitty but how was I gonna monetize it? Initially, I started saying yes to everything. After a few YES YES YES ( I just had money on my mind), I got increasingly frustrated and a bad easily irritable person. Then a thing called IKIGAI came to my rescue and an improvised version of it. Listen to my story of how I figured out my micro-niche.
The story of my last day of work, after working for 4 years there, it was now time to move out and it got nasty in the end.
