In this week’s episode of Soul Stories with Jill, Jill sits down with a man whose story is nothing short of miraculous. John Stewart Hill reached out through an app that matches storytellers with podcasts based on the message they want to share. He typed in his story, and Soul Stories with Jill came up as a nine out of ten match. That alone affirmed that this conversation was meant to happen.

John’s journey is one of the most powerful stories shared on this podcast. There was a time in his life when he prayed and asked God to take him because he felt finished. He  had been divorced three times, living with his girlfriend, convinced he had no purpose left, no direction, and nothing to look forward to. He didn’t believe he would ever amount to anything. Life felt heavy, empty, and hopeless.

But everything changed when he had a heart attack. What initially looked like a grim medical situation turned into the beginning of a miracle. Although he had been praying for God to take him, he felt God say, ‘If you choose to stay, I will be with you and give you a purpose.’

The doctors not only saved his life, God kept His promise and gave John that purpose. He began building a company from scratch with the mission of helping people and serving communities. Ten years later, that company has grown so much that it has now been bought and is going nationwide. His dream, his purpose, and his promise have become bigger than he ever imagined.

John later received a heart transplant, and that experience shifted his perspective yet again. He now shares his story not just to inspire, but to spread awareness and hope, reminding people that purpose can rise out of the lowest and darkest moments. His gratitude for life, for second chances, and for the people who helped him along the way is powerful and deeply moving.
