  • The war on Christianity in Ukraine w/ Alex “Sasha” Misiats
The war between Russia and Ukraine continues to damage cities and lives at the time of this recording.  Why does Russia have such disdain for Ukraine?  Why do they feel war is the only resolution to their issues with a neighboring country?  Today, we discuss these types of questions with a Ukrainian friend and brother, Sasha Misiats.  Sasha explains that that this conflict is more of a religious war than what much of the mainstream media shares.
While Sasha (Alex) is now a university professor in the US, he still has deep ties and close relationships with those back in Ukraine.  If you hear a cell phone go off during this recording, that's actually Sasha's phone giving the "all clear" from the Ukrainian government.  Before we started recording, there was another sound from his phone signaling an enemy (Russian) air raid and warning citizens to seek shelter immediately.
    Continue to pray for Ukraine!

  • How can I improve my prayer life?

Today's episode is the answer to another listener question (keep 'em coming!).  While a large group of our listener base grew up knowing how to pray, that's not the case for everyone.  Those who accepted Christ into their lives in adulthood often haven't been taught to pray.  So, to remedy that, we recorded an episode to help those who are starting a prayer life and tips for those who've been lifelong pray-ers.

Other show hightlights:  Why do doctors slap the newborn on the back? And, was Daniel once an auctioneer?

  • Do you have free will?
The topic of free will is a discussion that's lasted centuries.  John Calvin and those who've followed him believe that free will is an illusion.  It turns out that some atheists believe that free will is an allusion as well.
What does the Bible say on the topic? Do we have free will?  Does God have our entire lives planned out? What about pharaoh's hardened heart during the plagues?  These are some of the questions we'll discuss on this episode of the podcast.
Other show highlights: Joe's trouble in the cereal aisle and a "corny" story at the end.

  • Are the dead sea scrolls still helpful?
The dead sea scroll were discovered about 75 years ago in caves near the Dead Sea.  So, why is that important or useful information for me?  And, what does this discovery mean for modern Bible translations?
Again, Soul Training welcomes Bart Warren into the studio to answer these questions and more on this episode.
Other show highlights: Joe asks a show stopper near the end and Allen's hatred of movie sequels are discussed.

How do you forgive?  What forgiveness means? How to move forward after forgiveness?  These are just a few of the questions answered during the latest installment of Soul Training.

  • How did we get the New Testament? w/ Bart Warren

The Soul Training crew and guest Bart Warren discuss how the New Testament came to be.  We've all heard of some ancient texts that are excluded, but why is that the case?  Why are the "Gnostic gospels" not between Matthew and Revelation somewhere in the text?  Were the individual books that make up the New Testament chosen at an ancient council led by the Romans?

We answer all of these questions and assure the listener of the accuracy of the New Testament in this episode of Soul Training.

Other show highlights: Allen tones down the introduction of our guest this time.

  • Have I Done Enough to Get to Heaven?

On this episode, Soul Training tackles 2 listener questions:

    1) An elderly Christian fears death.  She wonders, has she "done enough" for the cause of Christ?

    2) We follow up on the (Good) Grief episode. A listener asked us, "how do you help someone who has stalled in the grief process?".

Soul Training reminds us in the episode about the assurances we have through Christ and that he's done the "work" for us.  Listen up and be encouraged!

Other show highlights: We come up with a few t-shirt ideas and Daniel gives anniversary gift advice.

  • Jonah - Fact or Fiction?

Today, we go fishing for the truth in the biblical account of Jonah.  And, yes, there are going to be puns...  Soul Training discusses Jonah and some more recent accounts of men swallowed by "great fish".

Other show highlights: Allen's love of fish sandwiches and Daniel and Joe's love of a good (or bad) pun.
