Sounds of rebirth and renewal in a cool register, from artists and labels associated with Chicago, LA and far beyond, made during my first Spring in the windy city after moving from LA. A cumbia mix would have been equally appropriate to Pilsen, but in an ode to the sensations given by Chicago’s seasonality, this offers a chill palette of jazz and rock sounds, and even features a handful Pilsen residents, both past and present.
