This time I talk about my overall mentality when I comes to dealing with sound as I hear it on each channel strip. Getting the gains set, eq's fixed up and the gates and compressors working to your advantage. This is hard to really explain without hearing or seeing the soundboard but listening in to this episode should help bring my perspective on mixing to the surface.

Even I overload my work sometimes which has kept me from even releasing my next episode on time. This is just a personal update on what I've been working on over the past 20 days.

This week I did an interview with Stew Pothier, who is currently the sound tech for Helix. We get into to talking about live recording and how it can give you a better understanding of how to mix live. 

When people think about live vs studio work generally people just think about the way you mix. In this episode I talk about time, the pressure, room acoustics, the people, the money, the enjoyment and of coarse feedback! Let me know if you like working live events or recording more?! 

I'm kicking off the new year with an episode about the unwritten rules of sound etiquette. These are just a few things off the top of my head that more then less target beginner to mid level bands and techs. Have a listen and find out how to make your sound tech grumpier than they already are!

Noise gates can be a powerful tool if you remember they are always there to use if you need them. I talk about using them to get rid of noise and clean up a drum mix. 
I also talk about how headphones are useful to me in a live show, either from FOH or at monitors position. 

One soundcheck I got burned pretty bad for not checking the squelch setting on a new wireless handheld. Listen in and I'll do my best to explain what squelch is and why you should keep you eye on it before a soundcheck.
