Been mixing various genres of music since the mid 80’s. Started out on hip hop, soul and breaks. Played at various clubs and raves back in the early 90’s at the start of the rave scene. Got a residency at a major local nightclub @ The Brunel Rooms playing alongside the likes of Brian Gee, Micky Finn plus many others.
Always had a box of vinyl in the car when driving around looking for illegal parties all over the West of England and enjoyed playing in some very strange venues, often in a marque tent in the middle of nowhere. Was always at some party every weekend for the golden years of the rave scene. It was an amazing time and the experiences from back then still translates musically into what I do now. It was great back then in so many ways, we manged to get things done without cell phones. Miss life without being glued to mobile devices!
Once I got into the early rave scene, it wasn’t long before labels like the infamous Good Looking Records, Reinforced Records, Movin’ Shadow and Metalheadz brought a whole new genre to life.
Over the years I’ve gravitated to the soulful and hip hop orientated drum n bass tracks and love the way that genre incorporates so many different elements into the various productions.
I help moderate the UK based Different Drumz online radio station and have been playing on there since 2016. I have a fortnightly show on Saturday nights where you can check out fresh cuts of some of the best dnb out there.
I started a sister label to Criterion Records (vinyl only) who’s owned and ran by a close friend, Alex K hailing out of Athens. Kriterion Recordings (Digital Only) was launched back in 2018 and has just released its 21st release. This is very much a labour of love in support of the artists and for all the joy they have brought me over the years. I work hard to ensure the tracks I put on the label is something both the artist and I believe is the best of what they have at the time and suits the labels ethos of releasing quality music.
