“Sounds of the Market” — Sound Art by Adrian Pritchard
Experience the vibrant soundscape of a bustling Fleetwood Market — the art of the deal, the rhythm of the haggle, the laughter, excitement, and everyday joy that fill this historic space.
This sound installation, created by artist and podcast host Adrian Pritchard, emerged from a series of mixed‑media workshops led by Dr. Rob Mullender‑Ross as part of Market House Studios’ Pride & Place project, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Participants explored how sound can build a sense of place through recording, deep listening, narrative, and composition — weaving together stories, impressions, histories, and textures to create works rooted in the identity of Fleetwood.
This installation was first exhibited in Fleetwood Market November 2024, accompanied by a video piece.
These workshops formed a key element of the Studios’ Pride & Place project, funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
