Although all of us would like to be considered encouragers, it takes real character to be one. There is a stark contrast between the Jesus way and the way of the world in terms of relationships, and it's not easy to choose the right way. God wants to hold tightly to certain things, and hold loosely to other things, in order to have great faithful friendships (1 John 2:15-3:16).

True connections are possible not only when there is transparency, but when open communication occurs within a framework of commitment. Jesus' teachings are best applied in our relationships. He models a perfect balance of self-sacrifice with proper personal autonomy. And the church should be a community of love which best shows Jesus to the world. (1 John 2:3-11)

In this fallen world most of us experience only "surface community." Our fears make us hide, and we struggle to truly be known and to know others. But Jesus came to bring restored intimacy with God and others. Jesus gives us a SECURITY that allows us to open up to others, and a solution for our hurts and fears. (1 John 1:5-7)

It’s surprising how much of the New Testament is devoted to the topic. Strengthen your relationships and tap in to the power of encouragement. In Christ we can truly experience fellowship with one another (1 John 1:7).

I John 1:1-4 Shows us that the early witnesses to the resurrection were proclaiming something they had actually experienced. It is possible in our “sophisticated and scientific” society to believe in bodily resurrection. This new reality makes it possible to have personal transformation and real and deep relationships (“we have fellowship with one another”). God uses others in our lives.
