One block of Lombard Street in San Francisco, California, is known as "the crookedest street in the world." It has eight sharp hairpin turns. One cannot see over the hood of the car because of the steep descent of this street. Life is like that sometimes, filled with twists and turns.

When life goes Lombard on us, the presence of Jesus is our courage and strength.

Jesus never taught that wealth was a bad thing, but He did teach the disciples that wealth was a bad master. We should express gratitude for the material possessions that God gives to us, but we should never let a greedy desire for things dominate our lives.

Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia, is a stroll down memory lane with its statuary monuments. It is legitimate to remember the past, but it is not healthy to remain in the past.

Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. is the center of

political power in our country. While many people use whatever power or influence they have to serve their own selfish ends, Jesus used his power for the benefit of others. We should do likewise.

Do all roads lead to God? As Jesus followers we never want to be accused of being intolerant of others or narrow in our love. At the same time we have convictions about what the Bible teaches about how to secure eternal life. We must then be consistent in our lives with what our convictions about God are.
