Jeremiah was given a difficult task, and the problem was nobody listened. God brings a case against his people: they had turned their backs on him, and turned to idols. The attraction was strong and took them to some dark places. You may not always understand God, but you can always trust God. In Habakkuk God tells him he is doing something he won’t understand, he is bringing his salvation out of injustice, his peace out of violence. In other words salvation is coming out of judgment, Light is coming out of darkness.

God sometimes calls people out of obscurity. Grace is found in the stillness of God’s voice. How can we listen to God in all the commotion?

Our lives are to reflect the image of God, and that requires both men and women. We tend to greatly underestimate the presence, purpose and significance of women in the Scriptures. So, a look at Queen Vashti, an often underestimated character in Scripture, who displays integrity and perseverance.

Proverbs is how to apply God’s wisdom to everyday life. It helps set the right pattern of choices in life. The purpose of the book is to teach wisdom.
