  • The Power Of Repetition

Bottom line: Repetition brings clearer vision.

The disciples' spiritual blindness gradually gave way to effective sight only after repetition of lessons. As they remained in the presence of Jesus they began to understand more and more. The began to see more clearly. They began to see Jesus for who He is more clearly. The began to see the vision to be accomplished more and more clearly.

  • Forgiven And Forgiving

Bottom line: Forgiven people are forgiving people.

We should forgive because of the forgiveness we've received, the fallout we experience when we don't, and the freedom we can experience when we do. Forgiveness is a choice in time to release a person from an obligation that resulted from an offense. Forgiveness is a process over time that works a change in us.

  • 20/20 Vision

Bottom line: When we see God, we see the vision to be faithfully accomplished.

Our vision statement: Connecting hearts with the love of God to grow, serve, and reach others. A vision statement sees what God wants accomplished, but vision sees God. This is a message about vision for 2020. Let's see God in His Word, in His people, and in prayer.

  • Christmas Response
Bottom line: Christmas requires a response. If you receive it, you'll rejoice over it. If you reject it, you'll regret it.
The appropriate response to Christmas is to:
    1) Receive the gift of Christmas
    2) Reciprocate the giving of Christmas
    3) Request the coming of the One who came at Christmas
    4) Reflect upon Christmas
    5) Rejoice because of Christmas

  • Christmas Miracle
Bottom line: The miracle of Christ's birth is what makes possible the miracle of my second birth.
Christmas is first foremost about the miracle birth of Jesus, but Christmas is also about our own miracle birth, i.e. our second birth. As the old Christmas carol goes, "Born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth. Hark! The herald angels sing, glory to the new born King."

  • Christmas King
Bottom line: Christmas from heaven's perspective is the manifestation and gift of the King. Christmas from earth's perspective is the reception and crowning of the King.
Jesus is the King of all. Nothing you say, do, or believe will ever change this fact. But, He is only your King if you bow the knee and put the crown on His head.

  • Christmas Rescue
Bottom line: Christmas is God's mission to rescue sinners from sin.
Before Jesus was born, Zacharias (father of John the Baptist) praised God and prophesied that Christmas would be a rescue mission to save sinners from sin.
We need a rescuer to rescue us from sin. Sin is not just a theological problem, it is a personal problem. Our sin separates us from God. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world as a human to do for us what we could never do on our own, pay the price of sin. Christmas is ultimately the story of rescue and reconciliation. Christmas is good news!

  • The Original Thanksgiving Meal
Bottom line: Communion is the expression of our appreciation for God's blessings of salvation.
The Lord's Supper is truly the original thanksgiving meal. When we partake of the Lord's Supper we have an opportunity to express our thanksgiving for Jesus' crucifixion (i.e. substitution in our place), our salvation, our communion with Jesus and other believers, our anticipation of His return, and our proclamation of the gospel.

  • The Two Martyrs
Bottom line: Every person will give glory to God either at a distance separated from God by fear or through love as he or she comes near.
The two witnesses (martyrs) of chapter 11 will have a team preaching ministry that powerfully demonstrates and communicates God's power and promise of the coming kingdom.
