In this episode, I open up about the tools and resources that have transformed our autism journey — from AAC devices to sensory supports to safety beds. I share how Bella’s pain, frustration, and elopement shaped our understanding of her needs, and how communication finally gave her relief. This is a raw, honest look at the things autism parents learn only by living it, and the hope that comes with finding the right supports.
Brandi shares her daughter Bella’s personal and emotional early intervention journey that began at two months with severe torticollis. She describes the difficult but essential in-home stretches, in-clinic physical therapy, and the late milestones they faced as they worked to strengthen Bella’s muscles and develop movement and communication.
The episode explains how Early Intervention provided PT, OT, and speech services, the practical tools and supports they used, and how Head Start embraced Bella’s needs when the local school system struggled to. Brandi emphasizes the importance of advocacy, resources, and transition planning into pre-K.
Throughout the story, Brandi centers her faith, sharing how God guided them, comforted them through hard moments, and brought the right therapists and supports. She offers encouragement and a prayer for other parents navigating similar paths.
In this episode, I walk through our families experiences with early signs, evaluations, and the emotional weight of receiving an autism diagnosis reminding parents that their feelings are normal. This conversation reflects personal experiences only and should not be taken as medical advice.
In this debut episode, Brandi shares why she created Southern Autism Momma: Faith, Family, and the Spectrum—a place for real stories, faith‑driven encouragement, and honest conversations about autism.
