Greed at its greediest

Belinda was raised in a small town by religiously fundamentalist family. Beyond fundamental, this family took religion too far and used it to oppress and beat this young woman down. When she is raped by her 'pastor', no one believes her story, choosing to believe that she is lying from the 'evil' in her heart.

When she meets Adam, Belinda is certain that her life is changed forever. Good looking and personable, he convinces Belinda to partake in a scam to convince an old woman that she is her long lost granddaughter.

When Belinda, now Kate, goes to the mansion with her new husband Adam and meets her 'grandmother', memories begin to surface. Is it possible that she actually is this long lost granddaughter? And how is her Grandmother so sick now? What is going on between Adam and Rachael, the nurse? What has she gotten herself in to?

There are a lot of layers in this story, intrigue, mystery, murder, love and a family history that will knock your socks off! Peggy Holloway has done a nice job of presenting Southern Greed at its greediest! Very nice read.

A 3 hour read

As I am sure you are guessing from my title.. this took me about 3 hours throughout a day to read. My overall thought on the book is it is a decent romance book. I did find it a but harder to enjoy, as whole book is written in a past tense. There are parts that written in this manner made the area's more funny or quirky, but it also makes it hard to just "get into" the story. Being an avid reader, I find that when a story is catchy, pulls you in where you feel you are right there, either you are the character, or you are their unseen ghost, it makes a good book, a phenomenal one... this is just a good book. There are some sections that are not appropriate for young readers, the situations are a bit mature, but overall, the book is not a "steamy" romance. I also think that this book is lacking a bit of character building, and back story.. there are unanswered questions, and although I found the overall book good, I did not find it gripping where the lack of certain parts make me feel bereft. If you enjoy quick romances that you can put down and come back to, you should enjoy this book.
