John has been banished to the island of Patmos because of his faith in Jesus Christ. He is about 95 years old. On a Sunday, he sees visions, which he is instructed to report in writing to seven churches in Asia Minor. The letters are sent to each church along with a copy of the whole of the vision. Since 7 signifies completeness, the seven churches represent the complete church. This is a message that God expects believers to read, take to heart, and apply to their lives.
