Summary: There are some circumstances in life that seem to suffocate our song: the Bible doesn't make sense, the songs we sing are empty words, the prayers we pray go unanswered. We would consider this a season of "spiritual dryness". In these moments, we're tempted to make plans to fix it rather than pray, stuff our feelings rather than share them, and to stop worshiping all together. In Psalm 13, David finds himself in a season like this, and his response is a challenge and encouragement to us. David prays and praises from the pit. Whether you're in a season like this or coming out of one, Psalm 13 gives us hope in how we can respond when we feel stuck in a pit.
