In Acts 10, God sends Peter to share the gospel with a Roman centurion named Cornelius, who would be the first Gentile to believe in the Gospel. We see a new development in God's plan for the redemption of his people. He is bringing Gentiles into the church to join the Jewish believers. Peter has to set aside his old way of thinking as God transforms his perspective on who God truly cares about: all those made in his image. As the church, our mission is to continue spreading the gospel in every nation as we embrace the beautiful diversity within God's family.

Jesus selects one of the greatest enemies to the Gospel in order to make him the main apostle to the Gentiles. The immediate transformation of Saul, who we will come to know as Paul, points to the overwhelming power of the Gospel to change lives.
This shows us that
no one is too far from God's salvation and gives us hope that anyone can be used by God.

This morning we're studying Acts 6-7 to understand the priorities and practices of Stephen, the first Christian martyr.

Through the power of Jesus' name, Peter and John heal a man who has been unable to walk since birth. This miracle is a physical demonstration of the spiritual reality that God heals broken and hurting people by providing them with salvation through Jesus Christ. Just like this newly healed man, we also are living evidence of God's power to give eternal life to those who are spiritually dead.
