God calls His people to be a culture-shaping community: A community that serves Him, stands together and helps the hurting. One man stood and shifted the direction of his culture. Hunger drives most of what we do in life... hunger not just for food, but for love, friendship, hope, peace, security, and significance. Jesus, our bread of life, offers to satisfy all these hungers and more if we'll simply come to Him in faith.

You're going to die, and there's nothing you can do about it. But there is hope because death isn't that bad for those who know Jesus, the source of life. He died to defeat death and rose to give us life eternal. As a result, death will be nothing more than a temporary discomfort that leads you to a better life.

God expects His people to act in ways that He has already modeled in the Gospel.

According to Proverbs 12.18, our words have the power to create incredible joy or incredible sorrow in the lives around us. We've all seen their ability to encourage or discourage; to fix a relationship or break it; to heal or destroy. So how do we avoid reckless words that cut like a sword and instead use wise words to bring healing?

Despite the great difficulty of work, we look forward to a future in the new heavens and new earth that will likely involve work. Since work was present in the Garden in Genesis 1 before sin and work seems present in the new City in Revelation 21-22, we can clearly conclude that work has meaning and significance now in its continuity with God's future purposes.

Despite the divine design and dignity to human work, our experience of work reveals its great difficulty as well. Like every other aspect of human life, work has fallen under the consequences of sin. As a result, work can often be fruitless, unfulfilling, and selfish.
