It’s very Ironic that the timing of me releasing episode is on the heels of the Philadelphia #starbucks situation. Maria spoke candidly about how she goes out her way to accommodate and create a safe space at her shop for non-white people... Beyond that topic, we touched on Maria’s road to candidacy and what she hopes to accomplish while in office

Jo Ann Hardesty joins the Sox & Sandals Podcast as she speaks about her campaign for Portland City Council Commissioner Position 3. Jo Ann is unapologetic when it comes to speaking truth to power. In this episode Jo Ann shares how fierce of a competitor she is, and how her mere presence will lead 16 year incumbents to retire! She sheds light on the Portland Gang Enforcement Task Force and their well documented targeting of black people in Portland. One thing is for sure about Jo Ann, she is going to challenge everyone in her presence to do better. She will elevate everyone around her to her level of excellence. In this week’s episode I have William Johnson back in the kitchen with me as we wrap up this series on toxic masculinity. William teaches a 52-week batterers intervention course for men that have been convicted of domestic violence. He gives us a glimpse into what it’s like to destroy and rebuild the mind of man that is clouded in toxic masculinity. Some men quit early, some men say they would rather go back to jail than to go to that class every week... The perspective the William is giving us is hard to come by, so let's not take it for granted!

There are also others that attend in an attempt to save their marriage or just to change for the better.
