  • Day 96 - One-measure grooves

    Hélène had asked me once whether I sometimes play along a record, and inspired by a video of Ari Hoenig I had watched in the morning, I played for half an hour over a Steve Kuhn/Scott La Faro/Pete LA Roca version of “Little Old Lady” (from their recording 1960).

    Then I practiced some fast comping (not so fast, 200 BPM), and I ended up with these one-measure grooves from John Riley's The art of bop drumming.

    I was testing some audio stuff last night, while watching Game 2 of Cavs v Pacers - Good game, but I wanted the Cavs to win this one 😦

    So, I kind of babbled along and made a PTSD Vlog that I thought some may find useful. I'm trying to share a bit of what I've learned about trauma and how it's cumulative over a lifetime
    I used some events with Joanie as examples, she's flying so she won't mind 😃

    PS. I'll do a how to video about using 32-Bit Float Timecodes with my Rode Mics and my Canon EOS R6 which does NOT have a timecode input, so RODE uses the on-camera audio to shove the timecode into the system
