We’re a two year old pod-baby, and are celebrating our 100th episode at the same time. We’ve always hoped to sit down with the man behind all of the magic, Christian T. Petersen. Lucky for us, this was just the occasion to get ahold of him. This interview is an up close look with a lot of the original development of Twilight Imperium as a property and how the game and story has changed over the years and multiple editions. It was a great chance to see what kind of processes and thinking go into a game of such epic proportions! We loved having him on the show and we hope you all enjoy!

Our copies of Dune finally came in, and we’ve been getting a lot of questions about what makes our second game so special. So we thought we should take the time and break down all the reasons we’re excited about Dune by Gale Force Nine, and how we hope to be able to start covering it on our show!

We had the pleasure of meeting Nateraide in person at GenCon this year. And while we didn’t get to record his episode live at GenCon, he did come to us with a brilliant topic of discussion. So, join us for a dissection of the different styles of group metas that are most prevalent amongst the community, and what types of players each meta benefits the most!

While at GenCon, we had the opportunity to sit down with designers Bill Eberle of Dune and Patrick Leder of Root. We spoke with them about their upcoming releases and about the ways fans interact with their games. We also got to see Dune played and have been playing a fair amount of Root ourselves, and in this episode you’ll hear our first impressions on both games.

THIS EPISODE OF SCPT IS RATED PG-13 FOR SUGGESTIVE CONTENT AND LANGUAGE.

We finally had our first LIVE SHOW! This was our event held at GenCon 2019, where we played the archaic Twilight Imperium RPG (which is quite bad). We were joined by fellow Portland comedian Steven Wilber and member of the RPG group Rat Queens, Jessica Lynn Verdi! This was an incredible experience that we look forward to doing more of in the future.

THIS EPISODE HAS SOME AUDIO QUALITY ISSUES. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MIX THE PODCASTERS IN WITH THE RIFF RAFF! But no, seriously, we apologize for any discomfort in your listening experience.

TgWelch has been a mainstay of the Tabletop Simulator community for some time now, and it’s entirely possible that he has more games played of Twilight Imperium than any other person. Today, he joins us on the show to talk about organizing games on the Tabletop Simulator Discord, at home, and possibly future tournaments.
