Why would a Swedish Eurodance outfit pretending to be American rednecks put out a point-and-click adventure game in the mid 90s? Where did it come from? Where did it go? No one truly knows, but it is a stupendously awkward and hilarious glimpse into the fever pitch popularity of Cotton Eye Joe.

Universe is the second point-and-click adventure game by Core Design, who would later achieve super-stardom with the Tomb Raider series. It is an extraordinarily good-looking game that desperately wants to be Star Wars and fails at it in just about every respect.

Space Quest III is surprisingly easy-going on the player. In fact, the only two really cruel moments we've been able to find in the game are so ludicrously improbable, I'll bet you anything you've never seen them before this video. (Offer not guaranteed.)
