The Christmas season is here!  The season of Advent, the anticipation of the coming Savior. This is such an exciting time, and one we look forward to every year. It is a time to pause and orient our hearts, homes, and minds to the true meaning of Christmas.  The birth of Jesus is such a beautiful gift from God, the gift of hope in a dark world. In this first week of December, we want to talk about why Jesus coming into the world is so important and how the birth of this baby, God’s only son, changed everything for our lives.

It is November and the holidays are just around the corner! While this can be a wonderful time of anticipation and joy, it can also be a really tough time for many. The holidays naturally bring about memories from our past and our childhood, and that can be difficult if we have lost loved ones, or if our family dynamics have changed.  

This week on SPARK the Podcast, Mekina Saylor shares about a big change in her family when she was 16 years old. Mekina talks through her feelings of loss when her parents let her know they were getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage, the 5 stages of grief she experienced and what each looked like for her, and where she saw God working in her life in this really difficult time. While this change was really hard, Mekina shares that she only has one mom and one dad, and that forgiveness, grace, and support from the church community were essential in the healing process for her. Thank you so much for sharing your story Mekina! Listen in on this open and hope filled conversation on SPARK the Podcast today.
