Has language and writing devolved in the last 50 years? I think in many ways it has. We don’t need to be pompous or act superior. BUT Written and spoken language is still important and can’t always be filled with slang or colloquialisms. We are accepting words that don’t exist even though so many people use them. We have taken the path of least resistance instead of saying just because a lot of people say IRREGARDLESS doesn’t make it correct. Speaking and writing well is not lame, it shows professionalism, and that language doesn’t need to devolve. There is plenty of room for fun and familiar language amongst friends and family but in the professional world let’s put a better foot forward.
